BNB Chain has reported significant gains in testnet throughput on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC) as the network advances with the testing of BEP-675. According to the official BNB Chain X account, ongoing tests on QANet—the network’s internal testnet designed to closely resemble BSC’s cross-region validator setup—have yielded substantial results.

BEP-675 introduces a key change for block building by allowing builders to submit fully executed blocks directly to validators. This enables validators to skip the usual re-execution step before finalizing the block, resulting in notable performance benefits. When tested on QANet, this update lifted throughput by 88%, from 1,237 transactions per second (TPS) to 2,324 TPS. These improvements came without adjustments to gas limits or block intervals.
This upgrade aims to widen the path for BSC scalability by removing the need for redundant block execution. By reducing the tradeoff between higher gas limits and the shorter time available for builders, the network can scale throughput more flexibly.
As BSC prepares its next phases, further tests will assess whether these throughput improvements persist at mainnet scale and in combination with other enhancements scheduled for the second half of 2026. The introduction of BEP-675 will be accompanied by additional performance tuning and integrations, such as Block-Level Access Lists (BAL) and execution refinements within the Ethereum Virtual Machine.

2026 roadmap targets scalability and accessibility
The H2 2026 Tech Roadmap for BNB Chain sets three central aims. First, the network is focused on doubling throughput by introducing BEP-675 and related optimizations, advancing immediately toward a 2x boost for BSC and pursuing a tenfold performance enhancement for the entire BNB Chain over the longer term.
Second, BNB Chain is developing advanced resource isolation to limit interference between different applications on the network. This step is expected to lead to smoother, more predictable performance for both users and developers.
Third, the chain is refining its gas fee structures. The goal is to lower the entry barrier for enterprises from both the Web2 and Web3 sectors, making it easier for new businesses to adopt and operate on BNB Chain.
In the first half of 2026, notable milestones included reducing block intervals to 450 milliseconds and in-memory finality to 650 milliseconds, which helped nearly double throughput in performance benchmarks. The current H2 objective remains sharply focused on another doubling of the mainnet’s throughput while progressing toward the long-term scaling target.
Next-generation Layer 1 and ecosystem support
