A major Chainlink (LINK) holder has transferred 2.41 million LINK tokens, worth approximately $26 million, to Coinbase over the past month. Blockchain analytics platform Onchain Lens reported that these tokens were originally acquired via Binance and moved to the US-based cryptocurrency exchange in several transactions.

Large deposits increase market scrutiny

The substantial deposit to Coinbase has drawn increased attention from traders and analysts, as such movements by major holders often precede heightened selling activity. However, this does not always signal immediate liquidation, as large holders could also be repositioning assets for security reasons or portfolio adjustments.

The gradual pace of these transfers over several weeks may have limited abrupt price swings but has not eliminated investor concerns about selling pressure on LINK. The $26 million transfer is among the largest recent whale activities involving Chainlink.

The address deposited roughly 2.41 million LINK tokens to Coinbase, as tracked by Onchain Lens, sparking speculation about the motive behind the move and its impact on market sentiment.

Price performance and key technical levels

LINK’s price surged around 86% from its July low of about $7, reaching highs near $13 in early September. However, recent declines have seen the price fall under a core support zone, currently trading near $11.80, below the $12 threshold considered significant by technical traders.

Michaël van de Poppe, a digital asset trading analyst, identified two strategic zones for LINK, emphasizing buying interest if the price dips below $10.50, particularly if Bitcoin volatility drives broader declines. He views this area as a favorable accumulation point for long-term investors.

If Bitcoin experiences a downturn, any drop in LINK below $10.50 could present a compelling opportunity to increase exposure, especially since it has already shown strong market performance.

Analysts and traders are closely watching support at $10.80. Should LINK drop further, the next support stands at $9.80, with a deeper zone at $8.80. For the token to reverse recent losses and regain upward momentum, it must reclaim the $12 level and challenge its recent $13 peak.

Network activity remains robust

Despite price volatility, Chainlink’s network has demonstrated continued growth in activity. Active addresses rose from 3,599 in early August to a peak of 5,572, now stabilizing at 4,821. This means the network has retained about 66% of the gains seen during late August’s surge. Meanwhile, new addresses peaked at 1,601 before settling near 1,140.

According to data compiled by Santiment, the growth in active addresses on Chainlink outpaced competing smart contract platforms during the same period, with Solana seeing 7.5% growth and Ethereum registering 5.2%.

Chainlink ecosystem milestones and partnerships

Chainlink recently surpassed $30 trillion in total transaction value secured since inception. The Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), a solution enabling decentralized applications to interact across different blockchains, saw its weekly transaction volume jump 260% to $1.3 billion.

Prediction platform World, known for its decentralized market infrastructure, selected Chainlink Data Streams and Chainlink Runtime Environment as its official data source for a new Solana-based product. More than 1 million users have joined the waitlist for this service, which is designed to support automated settlements in markets covering sports, elections, commodities, and weather outcomes.

Mini dictionary: Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) is an infrastructure developed by Chainlink that allows blockchain applications to send messages, transfer data, and move tokens between different blockchain networks in a secure and decentralized manner, enhancing blockchain connectivity and expanding use cases for decentralized finance (DeFi) and other sectors.

Chainlink continues to trade around $11.80. Market participants are monitoring ongoing whale movements and technical levels as the network celebrates new adoption milestones and sustained address growth.
