The role of XRP in a tokenized ecosystem

Crypto commentator X Finance Bull stated that this trend could bolster XRP’s function as a bridge asset connecting different types of digital currencies, assets, and payment rails. According to the commentator, XRP’s existing infrastructure positions it to facilitate seamless transfers and settlements between diverse forms of money.

XRP is the native digital asset of the XRP Ledger (XRPL), an open-source blockchain developed for payments and asset tokenization. Ripple, the company behind many XRP-related products, provides enterprise solutions for cross-border payments using this network.

X Finance Bull cited remarks from Darko Hajdukovic, Head of Digital Assets at the London Stock Exchange, who appeared in a video published by TokenizedPod. Hajdukovic addressed the importance of considering the “cash leg of transactions and payments” as stablecoins and tokenized assets gain momentum.

The commentator highlighted Hajdukovic’s point that stablecoins and tokenized securities are no longer questioned in their existence; rather, the industry is exploring how to manage the payment aspect of these digital asset transactions as their adoption increases.

Simon Taylor, a digital assets analyst, contributed to the discussion by noting that different institutions may see the same stablecoin in varied ways. He explained that the utility of each stablecoin is context-dependent and may differ based on each institution’s business goals or regulatory requirements.

Taylor provided examples including tokenized deposits, faster clearing processes, 24/7 payment capabilities and international remittances, emphasizing the versatility of stablecoins in modern finance.

Ripple’s RLUSD and the digital settlement model

In his comments, X Finance Bull referenced RLUSD, which he described as Ripple’s regulated digital-dollar product, suggesting it could serve as the cash settlement leg in delivery-versus-payment models.

He also discussed the XRP Ledger’s capacity to issue, trade, and settle tokenized assets, positioning XRP as a liquidity source within the network. X Finance Bull argued this combination may become even more relevant as more institutions introduce tokenized assets and national currencies.

The commentator gave an example of how RLUSD, XRP, and MXNB, Mexico’s digital peso stablecoin, could operate together. Bitso, a cryptocurrency exchange specializing in Latin America, has brought MXNB onto the XRP Ledger to support US-Mexico payment corridors.

This approach could enable faster and more efficient transfers by using XRP as a bridge between tokenized versions of local currencies in cross-border transactions.

Mini dictionary: RLUSD, Ripple’s regulated digital dollar, is designed as a stablecoin aligned with regulatory standards. It enables real-time settlement in tokenized transactions, supporting delivery-versus-payment use cases within Ripple’s payments infrastructure.

Broader developments in tokenized assets

X Finance Bull also referenced tokenized financial products such as Ondo Finance’s OUSG, implemented on the XRP Ledger with RLUSD facilitating around-the-clock minting and redemption for users.

The commentator highlighted collaborations involving DBS Bank, Franklin Templeton, and Ripple with projects such as sgBENJI and RLUSD, focused on tokenized fund trading, lending, and use of digital assets as collateral.

He mentioned additional infrastructure projects like ZILO, Licuido, and Ripple Mint, which support issuance, asset transfers, collateral mobility, and RLUSD settlement processes on the XRPL platform.

Summarizing his view, X Finance Bull suggested that tokenized finance will require multiple digital assets working together, rather than a single universal currency. Each new asset or stablecoin introduced could create additional liquidity connections that financial markets must accommodate.

The commentator stressed that XRP may play a central role as institutions require reliable liquidity between tokenized currencies and assets, particularly as digital finance infrastructure expands.
