The XRP Ledger has registered a significant surge in burn activity, with fees burned rising 848% compared to recent averages. This uptick comes as XRP trades at $1.51, remaining above its 200-day moving average, which currently stands near $1.37. The price action follows a break above a descending trendline earlier this month, signaling increased market attention.
Transaction spikes and fee burns
Network data shows that total transactions on the ledger reached 2.9 million, representing a 276.6% increase. Within this number, successful transactions climbed to 1.9 million, marking a 172.6% jump. The number of payments processed during the period rose 129.9% to 1.2 million.
The payments volume also advanced by 35.1% within a single day, totaling 929.6 million XRP, well above the 30-day average of 615.4 million XRP. However, this remains below the all-time high of 7 billion XRP in daily volume. Since each transaction on the XRP Ledger destroys a small amount of XRP as a fee, higher activity has directly led to the record burn rate observed during this period.
Quality of activity under scrutiny
Despite these headline figures, analysis of the underlying activity suggests a more complicated picture. Of the 2.9 million transactions, nearly one million failed to execute successfully. Failed transactions can still incur fees, contributing to the elevated burn rate. Industry analysts have noted that increased spam or bot-driven activity may be inflating network statistics, rather than reflecting purely organic economic growth.
Other indicators support this perspective. The number of active users dropped 69.5% to 152,200, even as new accounts surged by 831.5% to 3,200 and active accounts jumped 378.1% to 18,200. Such rapid gains in account creation could be the result of automated processes instead of genuine adoption. Meanwhile, transactions per ledger decreased by 25.7% to 142.43, and the average ledger interval remained stable at 3.89 seconds, showing that the network managed the increased load without disruption.
Price action remains cautious
XRP’s price has so far shown limited response to the spike in network metrics. After reaching a high of $1.66, XRP has seen a pullback but continues to stabilize above $1.50. Key support levels are found in the $1.37 to $1.31 range, aligning with several moving averages. However, recent trading volumes have tapered off compared with the heightened activity observed during the August breakout.
Technical analysts have emphasized that while a higher burn rate may benefit long-term supply dynamics, its real impact hinges on the quality of activity behind those burns.
While elevated fee burns generally support supply reduction, the long-term implications depend on whether activity growth is driven by genuine payments or by automated and failed transactions. If payment growth is organic, it reinforces XRP’s utility, but if spam dominates, the effect may prove short-lived.
Meme token highlights and activity tracking
In fast-moving digital asset segments, especially among meme tokens, technical patterns and monitoring investor behavior have become increasingly important. In this context, Fomo App has published data showing how a viral trend in the meme token market can quickly generate substantial value. For example, “Niu Lai” transformed a $99 investment into approximately $370,000 within days. As success in these markets often depends on both price movements and the timing and selection of tokens by traders, comprehensive platforms like Fomo App are garnering attention. The app offers token discovery, real-time trading, social feeds, investor rankings, and notifications, providing market participants with tools to watch both new memes and broad investor activity closely.
