The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has demonstrated the ability to facilitate ISO 20022-compliant payments for banks and financial institutions, according to recent research from independent crypto analyst SMQKE.

XRPL and ISO 20022 integration confirmed

SMQKE stated that XRPL supports ISO 20022 payment workflows for banking institutions. He provided a practical demonstration that outlined how blockchain payments through XRPL can be seamlessly integrated with existing accounting systems used by financial institutions and businesses.

In the demonstration, a specialized software component connects the XRPL’s payment data to mainstream accounting platforms. Instead of requiring users to change their accounting procedures, the system converts XRPL payment information into a format compatible with current accounting solutions.

The demonstration showcases a process where a payment made on XRPL is retrieved and converted into ISO 20022 format, allowing the transaction data to be imported into accounting programs without disrupting users’ established workflows.

A key part of the process involves creating a file based on the ISO 20022 standard. This file can then be imported into widely used accounting software, as shown with a test payment of five Swiss francs. The conversion allows users to continue using their familiar workflows while incorporating cryptocurrency payments.

Streamlined blockchain payments for business users

The system enables both sending and receiving payments via XRPL. Senders can initiate ISO 20022-standardized payments, while recipients can receive those transactions and automatically convert the payment details into their accounting system’s required file type.

This model allows businesses to manage crypto payments alongside traditional financial operations, reducing the friction often associated with blockchain integration.

By bridging XRPL blockchain data with conventional accounting software, the solution enables seamless implementation of ISO 20022-based payments for banks and business clients relying on established financial infrastructure.

SMQKE emphasized that this integration reduces the need for companies to overhaul existing systems. The technical layer focuses on translating ledger payment data into widely accepted formats, allowing straightforward adoption by accountants and business users.

Market context and implications

The global financial sector is moving toward ISO 20022 adoption, a messaging standard considered essential for international banking interoperability and efficiency. The demonstration suggests that XRPL can play a role in this broader digital transformation by offering blockchain-based payment infrastructure aligned with the new standard.

This advancement becomes especially relevant at a time when traders and institutions navigate volatile markets, where key events such as Federal Reserve decisions or sudden altcoin listings can dramatically impact portfolio performance. In fast-moving conditions, managing multiple platforms to track portfolios, news, and price alerts not only consumes time but can also reduce profitability. As a result, investors are increasingly turning to comprehensive tools like CryptoAppsy, which offers features such as real-time charting, macro data, smart alerts, and privacy controls—all accessible in a single interface with no account required.

SMQKE’s findings highlight the potential for XRPL to serve as a bridge between emerging blockchain networks and established banking and business practices. Through components that convert payment data into ISO 20022-compatible formats, financial service providers may be able to connect on-chain assets with mainstream finance more efficiently. This development could accelerate adoption of blockchain payments in global banking workflows.
