A prominent voice in the XRP community, known by the pseudonym Mrcauliman, has urged XRP holders to move their focus away from ambitious price targets and place greater emphasis on understanding the mechanics and value drivers of their assets.
Mrcauliman criticizes narrow focus on XRP price
In a recent post, Mrcauliman argued that many XRP holders spend considerable time calculating potential wealth at aspirational price levels, such as $100 per coin, without sufficient attention to the XRP Ledger (XRPL), the core network underpinning the asset, or the fundamental factors influencing real demand for XRP.
He noted that although investors have ample opportunity to estimate their hypothetical returns, few dedicate similar effort to studying how the technology works or understanding which elements could drive future value.
Mrcauliman warned that purchasing XRP does not entitle anyone to automatic gains and rejected the notion that simply holding the token would ensure future profitability. He pointed out that investors who rely solely on price targets for wealth might be setting unrealistic expectations.
Many holders can swiftly calculate the riches their XRP could generate at lofty prices, but far fewer take the time to grasp how the XRPL functions or what truly gives XRP its utility.

Pushback from XRP investors
The remarks sparked discussion within the community. Investor Kyle Andrews questioned whether it was realistic to expect buyers to deeply study an asset before investing, comparing typical approaches to those used for traditional stocks, where many hope their decision was the correct one without detailed research.
Another community member, known as Mudball, raised the issue that XRP’s price sometimes declines despite positive news, contributing to investor frustration. Mudball noted that such outcomes undermine confidence in the correlation between positive developments and value appreciation.
Responding, Mrcauliman explained that even favorable headlines do not guarantee immediate buying demand for XRP. He pointed to factors such as market expectations, liquidity, and existing selling pressure as significant influences on price trends.
A drop in price after positive news does not signal causation; external market factors often play a stronger role than headline developments.
He also reiterated that some investors seem more familiar with their ideal XRP price than with the actual asset or its underlying technology.
Clarifying the investor’s role and distinction with Ripple
The discussion continued as the account XRP Crypto Resource contested Mrcauliman’s view, suggesting that investors who identify successful projects should rightly benefit financially. The commenter also claimed that while developers merit compensation, investors are equally deserving of future profits.
Mrcauliman rejected this characterization, stating he had not suggested developers should be rewarded over investors. He clarified that his critique was aimed at those investors who disregard asset fundamentals yet anticipate guaranteed gains based on speculative price targets.
He went on to say that understanding how a token functions is not a prerequisite for investing, but this approach does not guarantee wealth. Mrcauliman also highlighted that buying XRP is different from owning equity in Ripple, the US-based blockchain technology company that was instrumental in developing the XRP Ledger.
