Arbitrum’s ARB token has declined by approximately 24% over the past month, significantly underperforming both ether and bitcoin over the same period. According to market data, ARB hit its four-week low at $0.1638 on October 24, closing the day near $0.167 with a 5% daily decrease.

During these 30 days, ether’s value dropped about 13% and bitcoin fell 5%, demonstrating milder price corrections compared to ARB. Data points to ether sliding by 2% and bitcoin by 1% over the same daily window in which ARB fell sharply.

At 10:02 UTC on October 23, ARB was trading at $0.1802, below a previously observed band of $0.183 to $0.186 that technical analysis had cited as a possible retest area. Back on October 14, ARB had stood at $0.1916. The retest zone did not hold and losses continued to mount from there.

Other Ethereum scaling tokens also experienced steep declines. Optimism’s OP token lost about 16% in a month, while Polygon’s POL dropped 17%. Over the most recent seven-day period, OP performed the worst among its peers, dropping 16%, compared to ARB’s 9% and POL’s 5% in the same timeframe. For context, ether and bitcoin were down around 3% and 1.5% over that week, respectively.

Despite the downward price movement, Arbitrum One’s network saw a strong increase in daily active addresses. Data indicates active addresses surged to 563,669 on October 23, a sharp rise from 95,545 on September 26. The number fluctuated in the days prior, briefly dropping from 571,767 on October 21 to 299,959 the following day before climbing again.

Mini dictionary: Arbitrum One is a leading Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution designed to increase transaction efficiency and lower costs for developers and users. Its network fundamentals, including active address count, are often monitored by analysts to gauge ecosystem growth.

It should be noted that the number of addresses does not directly equate to individual users, as a single user may operate multiple addresses.

Standard Chartered maintains $0.50 year-end target

ARB’s latest decline negates much of the rally seen in September, when the token surged more than 167% in one month to trade above $0.20 for the first time since January. Over a 90-day period prior to the setback, ARB was up more than 147%, ranking it among the top 10 tokens outperforming bitcoin.

On-chain data from September also showed tokenized assets recorded on Arbitrum reaching over $800 million in assets under management, with total on-chain assets increasing from $9.38 billion to $11.18 billion over the month.

Standard Chartered, a multinational banking group, set a $0.50 price target for ARB by the end of 2026 and a $10 target by 2030. With ARB around $0.167, the token would need to approximately triple in value to meet the 2026 estimate.

Geoff Kendrick, head of digital assets research at Standard Chartered, wrote that digital assets are shifting from a phase where revenue was less relevant to one where revenue will become critical to long-term success.

The bank’s analysis also highlighted that holders of ARB currently receive only a small share of the network’s protocol revenue. Chains leveraging Arbitrum technology through its Expansion Program contribute 10% of net protocol revenue, with 8% funneled to the Arbitrum DAO treasury and 2% distributed to a developer guild.

Robinhood Chain, a primary participant in the Expansion Program, saw its daily fees spike to $6.04 million on September 4, before falling sharply to $448,616 by September 14.
