ACI Worldwide, a major global financial technology provider, has expanded its payments infrastructure to enable transactions orchestrated through SWIFT’s ledger. Official documentation from ACI identifies Ripple as one of the distributed ledger technology (DLT) rails now supported by the company.
SMQKE reveals Ripple reference in documentation
The new integration surfaced after crypto researcher SMQKE highlighted the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter). SMQKE shared documentation from ACI Worldwide, including screenshots that detail the company’s connection to SWIFT’s distributed ledger initiatives and its support for various DLT-based payment systems.
On September 22, ACI Worldwide announced the extension of its ACI Connetic platform to facilitate payments processed via SWIFT’s ledger. The company stated that this move will enable banks to manage both tokenized deposit payments and traditional transactions through unified controls, workflows, and infrastructure.
This unified approach is designed to help financial institutions support diverse payment types without establishing separate operations for digital assets. ACI described its goal as providing a single operating model that links multiple payment rails for banks.
ACI expanded its ACI Connetic platform to allow banks to manage tokenized deposit payments alongside traditional transactions through the same operational infrastructure, aiming to simplify payment processes for financial institutions.
SMQKE emphasized this integration on X, stating that ACI has officially connected with SWIFT’s ledger and listed Ripple as one of the supported DLT rails.
ACI Worldwide is known for providing electronic payment and banking solutions to financial institutions in more than 95 countries and for supporting real-time payments across global markets.
Mini dictionary: ACI Worldwide is a US-based payments technology company providing software and services for banking, processing electronic transactions, and supporting real-time payments.
Ripple named in ACI’s global payment presentation
In the documentation referenced by SMQKE, an ACI presentation notes that the company supports a variety of real-time payment systems worldwide and can connect banks to different payment infrastructures. Notably, Ripple is mentioned as an example of the DLT rails ACI can accommodate.
The reference to “DLT (e.g., Ripple)” demonstrates ACI’s willingness to support multiple types of distributed ledger technologies within its infrastructure. While Ripple is included in the documentation, there is no confirmation that XRP will be directly used for transactions under the new SWIFT ledger implementation.
Documentation from ACI Worldwide specifically lists Ripple as an example of a DLT rail the company supports, indicating that ACI’s infrastructure is compatible with multiple blockchain-based payment systems.
Crypto researcher SMQKE pointed out that the presentation connects Ripple to ACI’s growing network, but also clarified that the latest integration does not necessarily mean XRP is actively in use for SWIFT ledger transactions.
SWIFT ledger broadens digital payments access
SWIFT is currently developing its own ledger solution to facilitate tokenized deposits and other digital asset payments for banks and financial institutions. With ACI’s integration, banks can access these SWIFT-ledger payment flows using their existing payment infrastructure, removing the need to create parallel systems for digital assets.
ACI Worldwide’s platform supports a range of payment networks, including those based on distributed ledger technology. The explicit mention of Ripple in ACI’s materials situates Ripple as a recognized DLT rail in ACI’s global payments landscape.
For observers of XRP and the broader digital payments sector, the development highlights the increasing interaction between traditional financial networks and blockchain-based infrastructures. Ripple’s presence as a supported DLT rail places it among the technologies considered by major payment infrastructure providers as part of their global services.
