Former Binance Holdings employee Amrita Srivastava has filed a lawsuit against her ex-employer in a UK court. She alleges that a colleague solicited bribes from clients and claims she was unjustly terminated after reporting this unethical behavior. Srivastava stated in court that the colleague was not acting on behalf of Binance but instead demanding fees under the guise of consultancy services.
“I Reported the Bribery Allegation and Lost My Job”
Srivastava contends that her colleague was soliciting bribes in exchange for expediting customer relations. According to her court testimony, this individual carried out these operations under the name of consultancy. She reported this misconduct to the relevant departments within the company, only to be dismissed shortly thereafter for alleged performance issues. However, Srivastava argues that the stated reasons were false and that her termination was directly linked to her report of the bribery.
In her testimony, Srivastava accused her colleague of not acting on Binance’s behalf. She expressed concerns about corruption within the company, emphasizing that she felt abandoned during this process and subsequently lost her job.
Binance: “Termination Due to Performance Issues”
Binance’s attorneys asserted that Srivastava’s dismissal was due to poor performance. Company representatives stated that the issue was known to internal audit teams before Srivastava raised concerns. Binance claimed that the matter was investigated prior to her allegations and that the process was conducted transparently.
In a statement, Binance declared, “The employee’s contract was terminated following a performance evaluation. The allegations were investigated well before the termination decision was made, and necessary steps were taken.” The court’s decision on these allegations is eagerly awaited. Srivastava’s complaint has reignited discussions about ethics and corruption in the cryptocurrency sector, prompting scrutiny of operational transparency and employee rights policies at major platforms like Binance.
