Arbitrum DAO has approved the use of approximately 225 million ARB tokens, valued at nearly $190 million, to enhance its gaming ecosystem. Following this decision, the “Gaming Catalyst Program” (GCP) is positioned to invest in and grant funding to various gaming projects.
Program Structure and Transparency
The GCP has established an initial structure to support contributors’ investment authority, alongside the formation of a framework that will provide transparency reports regarding GCP personnel and compensation. To date, Arbitrum’s gaming program has spent about $1.2 million, with 93.5% of costs allocated to legal fees for establishing various entities and salaries for team members.
Future Plans
In the first quarter of 2025, program contributors will begin financing gaming projects and will continue to expand the team to enhance operational capabilities. According to the report, program managers aim to fund a total of 100 projects over a three-year period.
Dan Peng, a member of the program’s operations team, noted that “by December 29, 2024, we will have a pool of 64 projects from game developers through our new website and application form, showing high levels of interest.”
Joseph Axisa, a member of the Arbitrum community, expressed excitement about the momentum, stating, “It’s thrilling to see this momentum build, and while it’s still early days, things are clearly coming together.”
Currently, the Arbitrum ecosystem features 60 games ranging from third-party shooter games to baseball strategy-focused titles. Although ARB, Arbitrum’s native governance token, saw an increase of over 8% in the last 24 hours, it has declined by approximately 58% over the past year, trading at around $0.835 and reaching a market cap of $3.5 billion according to CoinGecko data.
Current Status and Ecosystem
The gaming ecosystem of Arbitrum continues to expand with a variety of game genres. The successful progression of the program aims to enhance the network’s potential for game development, providing users with access to a more diverse and higher quality gaming experience.
The GCP’s transparency report details the program’s structure and future investment strategies, aiming to build trust with investors and the community. This step indicates Arbitrum’s objective for sustainable growth within its gaming ecosystem.
