Bitcoin price surpassed $69,000, which was expected after positive US data. However, a popular Japanese crypto exchange was hacked at the same time. Even in the unpredictable world of crypto, this coincidence is quite troubling. So, what are the details of the latest development?

Latest Cryptocurrency News

Japan-based crypto exchange DMM Bitcoin was hacked. The total loss amounts to 48 billion yen, equivalent to 305 million dollars. The exchange announced that all stolen balances would be refunded to customers and guaranteed this. In its website announcement, DMM Bitcoin stated that 4,502 BTC were withdrawn from the exchange and measures were taken to prevent further asset outflows.

“Please be assured that we will secure an equivalent amount of BTC with the support of group companies and guarantee the full amount.”

Following the hack, all trading pairs were restricted, and trading activities were paused. Withdrawal transactions may take longer due to verifications at this stage. Previously, the Coincheck platform was also hacked in the region, and a similar amount was stolen in local currency.
