Bitwise expands regulated XRP access

The Bitwise XRP ETF, launched on the New York Stock Exchange in November 2025, provides brokerage-based investors a way to gain exposure to XRP prices without handling private keys or managing crypto exchange accounts. Bitwise directly holds spot XRP underlying the ETF and charges a management fee for fund administration and custody.

Authorized market participants can create additional ETF shares when new funds enter, prompting the ETF to acquire and hold more XRP. Rather than representing a corporate purchase by Bitwise, these inflows reflect client-driven demand through ETF subscriptions. As a result, the fund’s XRP holdings increase in proportion to investor activity, but Bitwise does not allocate its own corporate capital.

Placing tokens in fund custody can affect the circulating supply available for trading, but does not permanently reduce the total XRP supply. Unlike a token burn, these actions simply shift tokens into ETF custody and can limit the instantly tradable inventory.

The Bitwise XRP ETF allows investors to access XRP exposure through familiar financial infrastructure, providing custodial security and reporting, though ETF shareholders do not directly own transferable XRP Ledger tokens.

Broader interest in regulated XRP products has risen over August. Seven U.S. spot XRP funds reached a combined $1.57 billion in cumulative net inflows by August 24, with Bitwise leading at $542 million, followed by Canary Capital and Franklin Templeton, according to recent industry reports.

Bitwise’s ETF also saw a spike in trading activity, with $125 million in single-day volume on August 20 and over $200 million in trades across three sessions by August 24. Trading volume reflects market engagement but does not automatically translate into fresh capital inflow.

XRP price volatility amid strong ETF demand

Despite robust ETF subscriptions, XRP’s price performance remained volatile. After a strong rally cooled, XRP briefly retreated toward $1.30 and later rose back toward $1.40. This period saw both increased spot selling and renewed institutional demand through ETFs.

ETF flows influence only part of the global XRP market. The token continues to trade on centralized exchanges, decentralized platforms, and through derivatives contracts outside standard U.S. market hours. ETF flows in the U.S. may not always be reflected in real-time price changes.

Leverage in futures markets added to the volatility. During rallies, derivatives traders often increase risk, heightening the chance of forced liquidations when prices reverse. These liquidations can exceed daily institutional demand, even as ETF flows rise.

Recent inflows into XRP ETFs have continued for consecutive trading weeks, offering a clearer picture of institutional demand than volume alone. While trading volume tracks activity, net inflows highlight new capital entering the space after accounting for redemptions.

ETF subscriptions alone do not guarantee an immediate price rally. The price of XRP remains influenced by the balance among speculative selling, leverage, market liquidity, and overall sentiment, alongside institutional purchases.

Net inflows into spot ETFs show persistent regulated interest in XRP, but do not eliminate selling pressure. Market participants are closely tracking support at $1.30 and resistance near $1.40 to determine whether demand continues to absorb available supply.

Bitwise’s recent ETF inflows occurred as XRP marked one of the strongest monthly performances among major digital assets. Analysts are watching upcoming daily subscription figures to gauge whether the surge above $15 million in ETF demand continues or was a unique event.

Mini dictionary: Bitwise is a San Francisco-based asset manager that specializes in cryptocurrency index funds and launched several spot crypto ETFs in the U.S. since 2023, targeting both institutional and retail investors.
