NFT marketplace Blur’s founder introduced a new Ethereum Layer-2 network called Blast, officially starting its airdrop event within a week. The project announced on June 20th that users must perform specific actions to qualify for the airdrop, and dapps must distribute rewards like gold and points to users on the network by June 25th.
Blast Team’s Airdrop Announcement
The project team plans to allocate half of the airdrop event to developers through Blast Gold, while the other half will be distributed to early users based on wallet and dapp balances via Blast Points. The team stated that 50% of the Blast airdrop event is allocated to Blast Points, and users will automatically earn points for each block based on their wallet balances. Meanwhile, Blast Gold is intended to be used as an incentive for the growth of dapps.
The team added that this process means dapps must give 100% of the gold points they earn to their users. Additionally, users must log in at least once with an eligible EOA on the Blast dashboard to be included in the airdrop event. Blast stated the following:
“If you are a user and have Points or gold in your EOA, you must have logged in at least once with this EOA on your Blast dashboard for it to be included.”
Notable Details About Blast
The airdrop event was initially expected to take place in May, but the project announced a delay last month, stating that the allocation would be increased. Developed by Blur’s founder Tieshun Roquerre, Blast launched in early access mode in November 2023. According to blockchain data analysis platform DefiLlama, the total value locked in Blast was $2.09 billion at the time of publication, and this figure was $2.3 billion as of June 6th.
Blast-based games have also gained interest recently, with the card game Fantasy going live on the Blast mainnet in April following strong success in the test network. Last month, the protocol ranked among the top 10 platforms based on daily fees generated.
