T.Rowe Price expands ETF with Cardano

T.Rowe Price, a leading global asset management firm overseeing $1.87 trillion in assets, recently adjusted its Active Crypto ETF, known as TKNZ, to include Cardano. The ETF, which launched in July 2026, initially focused on Bitcoin and several major altcoins but did not list ADA among its core holdings. This latest adjustment brings ADA into the fold with a 0.43% portfolio allocation, amounting to 416,620 ADA valued at approximately $81,000.

The addition positions Cardano alongside assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Binance Coin, Solana, and XRP. Prior to this change, ADA had been listed only as an eligible asset within the fund.

This development comes just weeks after Grayscale withdrew its Cardano ETF application on August 10, a move that drove ADA prices down to about $0.196. The inclusion by T.Rowe Price is widely seen as reversing those losses and restoring momentum for the token.

Profit taking and short-term market sentiment

Despite the surging price, profit-taking behavior has emerged among large ADA holders following three consecutive positive sessions. Blockchain analytics firm Santiment reported that wallets holding between 1 million and 100 million ADA have reduced their collective holdings by about 100 million tokens since the weekend. Such activity could suggest a period of consolidation or a possible short-term pullback.

In the derivatives market, CoinGlass data showed a long-to-short ratio of 0.72 for ADA on Monday, marking one of the lowest readings in over a month. Ratios below 1.0 typically indicate a market leaning toward the downside.

Futures market data now shows the ADA long-to-short ratio at 0.72, highlighting a bearish tilt among derivatives traders.

Technical analyst Sssebi noted that after ADA’s breakout from an ascending channel, the coin has returned to retest previous resistance levels, a pattern that is often interpreted as a bullish technical indicator.

Network activity and technical outlook

On-chain metrics point to increased activity across the Cardano ecosystem. Decentralized exchange trading volume on Cardano soared from $4.15 million on August 20 to $16.1 million by August 22, according to DeFiLlama. The total value locked (TVL) in Cardano-based DeFi protocols rose from $54 million to $60 million during the same period.

Stablecoin circulation on the Cardano network expanded slightly, growing from $65 million on August 8 to $67 million. This growth signals enhanced on-chain activity and user engagement within the network.

Technically, Cardano maintains levels above both its 50-day and 100-day exponential moving averages, now at $0.187 and $0.196 respectively. The 200-day EMA sits at $0.249 and represents the next significant resistance. If ADA breaks above this level, a push toward $0.29 is possible, based on Fibonacci extension targets.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) for ADA reads 72, indicating strong bullish momentum while also cautioning that the asset could be nearing overbought conditions.

As of publication, ADA trades at $0.223, reflecting a 5.6% intraday gain.
