Technology sector pioneer Elon Musk founded xAI initiative’s product, the Grok AI chatbot, has quickly gained popularity among users worldwide, surpassing its competitor ChatGPT. According to a tweet from a developer team of X and DOGE, Grok’s usage has now become much more economical than paying for a monthly subscription to ChatGPT-4 on the X platform.
Grok Overtakes ChatGPT-4
According to the mentioned tweet, Grok is now made accessible to all X Premium users. It is offered without any additional fees with this subscription, and as a result, the monthly cost of using Premium and Grok is $8, while a monthly subscription to ChatGPT-4 requires $20.
In this case, using Elon Musk’s Grok becomes 60% more economical than from OpenAI, which Musk considers a competitor.
Musk Enters the Competition
Musk initially stated at the beginning of 2023 that he was a competitor against OpenAI and ChatGPT, and he was determined to have his AI chatbot interact with users without avoiding certain topics. This move was a reflection of his belief in the importance of freedom of expression after purchasing Twitter for $44 billion and rebranding it as the X app. Subsequently, he decided to launch his own AI-focused initiative to compensate for the shortcomings of OpenAI. Accordingly, last year Musk founded xAI and launched the Grok AI chatbot in late autumn.

Musk recently announced in a tweet that a new “unhinged” news mode for Grok on the X platform will be coming soon. This mode will summarize hot developments and news for all Premium users.
However, according to the screenshot shared in the tweet, this mode is likely to be called “normal mode” in reality. The crypto community is excited about this new update that adds “savviness” to the policies of Elon Musk and other major IT companies.
