As the Dencun Upgrade launch concludes, it seems another Ethereum update might arrive in the ecosystem within the next few weeks. Developers are hinting at the addition of the Ethereum Dencun Upgrade. Let’s delve into the details.
Decision Expected Within a Month
According to a post by Galaxy researcher Christine Kim, Ethereum developers are currently considering integrating MaxEB into Electra. This comes as the team is looking for additional features to include in the latest Ethereum upgrade. The final decision on whether to add the new feature is expected within the next one to four weeks.
In Christine Kim’s post, she claimed that developers agreed to make the addition. She continued to emphasize the importance of having parallel initiatives alongside the Electra upgrade. For this purpose, two other critical initiatives were highlighted: PeerDAS and light client development.
PeerDAS is an initiative focused on improving Ethereum’s data availability capacity. It is commonly referred to as “blob.” The goal is to ensure the service is securely made available. It’s important to note that increasing data availability is critical for scalability and network performance, which is why PeerDAS is significant.
The second initiative, light client development, aims to offer solutions that will facilitate independent access to Ethereum. This initiative seeks to enable more users to access Ethereum by minimizing hardware usage or reliance on third-party services. Both initiatives are designed to enhance accessibility and decentralization for users in the Ethereum ecosystem.
MaxEB Likely to Be a Major Feature in the Next Electra Upgrade
Given the necessity of additional initiatives with the Electra upgrade, PeerDAS and light client development were considered priorities. Therefore, MaxEB was identified as a primary focus for developers and stood out due to its impact on the network. Hence, they may not receive as much attention in the long run as other initiatives, but they hold significant importance initially.
There are those who believe Ethereum developers should also be responsible for the progress of these parallel initiatives alongside the Electra upgrade. This situation indicates an increased pressure for improvements and upgrades to move past legal issues with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
In the United States, the SEC has issued subpoenas to some companies due to an investigation related to Ethereum. It is known that this investigation has several disadvantages, including the potential rejection of the related spot ETF product.
