$1,737 network has successfully deployed the anticipated Pectra update on the Sepolia testnet. This update aims to enhance network efficiency, improve staking processes, and refine wallet functionalities. Innovations from the Pectra Update
The Ethereum Pectra update incorporates a total of 11 significant improvement proposals. EIP-7251 increases the maximum amount of ETH that validators can stake from 32 to 2,048, making the staking system more flexible. This change is expected to enhance validator scalability and strengthen the network’s security.
Another critical modification is the new features added to wallets with EIP-7702. Users will be able to temporarily use their wallets like smart contracts, allowing transaction fees to be paid with different stablecoins, thereby making automated payment systems more accessible. Ethereum developers believe these innovations will significantly enhance the user experience.
Testing Process and Developer Discussions
As the Pectra update is successfully implemented on Ethereum’s Sepolia testnet, last week’s issues on the Holesky testnet drew developers’ attention. A validator configuration error on Holesky caused a network split and temporary access problems. Learning from this experience, the team continues to manage the testing process carefully.
Ethereum developers will evaluate the transition of the Pectra update to the main network in a meeting scheduled for March 6. It is planned that at least one more successful test will be conducted for mainnet integration. Due to the complexity of the process, there is a possibility of a delay in the update.
