Just a short while ago, FTX was one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, but it experienced a swift downfall that shook the entire sector. Tom Brady, a former star of the NFL and one of the ambassadors of FTX during its peak periods, was one of those most affected by this collapse. Brady, according to claims, suffered losses exceeding tens of millions of dollars, and it doesn’t seem possible to recover these losses.
FTX Incident Hits Star Players
NFL’s star player, Tom Brady, lost $30 million due to the FTX incidents. The majority of these losses seem to be company shares. Data relayed by NYT in an announcement on Friday reveals that the famed player received payments in stock for most of the advertisements he appeared in. Brady’s advertisements were broadcasted on most U.S. television channels before FTX went bankrupt.
However, Brady was not the only one affected. Notable figures such as supermodel Gisele Bündchen also suffered due to their partnerships with FTX after its downfall. It’s reported that the supermodel received a $18 million stock payment, which is now deemed worthless.
O’Neal, Curry, and Many More Affected by FTX
Another victim of the FTX collapse is NBA star Shaq O’Neal. O’Neal received a summons related to this case in April. Stephen Curry was another affected by these incidents, declaring substantial financial losses.
Interestingly, it’s stated that pop star Taylor Swift also received an offer from FTX. Swift, who reportedly turned down a $100 million proposal, was reported to have rejected the deal because it didn’t sit well with her, particularly highlighting the issues related to the exchange.
FTX’s swift downfall, which was seen as a multi-billion-dollar empire, definitely created a shockwave in the cryptocurrency sector, and the aforementioned celebrities were among those affected. FTX is currently in bankruptcy proceedings, and if managed correctly, the exchange is expected to repay some of its debts.
