A few weeks ago, news circulated that was of great interest to crypto currency investors in Turkey. We learned that Garanti BBVA had tested a product related to crypto currency transactions with its employees. This was a significant development for both Turkish and global crypto currency investors. A massive bank will start offering direct crypto currency buying/selling services.
Garanti Bank Crypto Currency Service
Barış Özuş, the Digital Assets Product Manager at Garanti BBVA, has been working on crypto products for about 11 months. Speaking at the Istanbul Blockchain Week event today, he answered the question that crypto currency investors were eagerly waiting for. Although he hesitated to give a specific date, he said that customers will be able to buy and sell crypto currency through the bank next year.
“Currently, only bank personnel can interact with the product. We are learning and testing at the same time. We have invested in a technology that we didn’t know much about, with a team we built from scratch, and we have produced something. We are testing if everything is going well. I don’t want to give too much information about predictions because it can change very quickly. We are aware of the seriousness of the buying and selling feature. We are in an ongoing process. We plan to start this next year. For now, we have BTC and ETH, but we are also working on USDC. Each coin is evaluated by experts in our world. We continue the process for the crypto currencies we are confident in. It will cover a significant portion of the market. At this stage, we have prioritized customer security, so we have not prioritized altcoins.”
