The popularity of cryptocurrencies has been rapidly increasing in recent years. This surge of interest has led to significant initiatives and innovative steps by major players in the finance and banking sector. According to Webrazzi, one of Turkey’s leading banks, Garanti BBVA, has made a significant move by introducing Garanti BBVA Crypto, a crypto wallet and transfer service.
Garanti BBVA’s Expected Move in This Direction
Towards the end of last year, Garanti BBVA had posted a job listing in the field of digital asset management. The LinkedIn posting for the position of “Digital Asset Liquidity Management Project Manager / Product Owner” indicated an active search. This was not the bank’s first job listing related to cryptocurrencies and other digital assets, as they had previously posted a job listing for the position of “Crypto Asset Officer/Expert.”
Initially, it was speculated that these job listings indicated the bank’s serious venture into cryptocurrencies and other digital assets, but there was no definitive information on how this venture would unfold.
Garanti BBVA Crypto Currently Limited to Bank Employees
According to sources reached by Webrazzi, Garanti BBVA initially made its new service, Garanti BBVA Crypto, which provides crypto wallet and transfer services, available only to its employees.
It is currently unclear when Garanti BBVA Crypto will be activated for customers, as it is currently only accessible to bank employees.
While the current phase of the service does not offer cryptocurrency trading functionality, it is planned to be added to the platform in the future. This step confirms Garanti BBVA’s serious interest in cryptocurrencies and other digital assets, as well as their intention to grow and expand in this field, as highlighted by their frequent job postings.
