Gemini CEO Tyler Winklevoss revealed a new milestone for XRP holders in Singapore, expanding direct access to the XRP Ledger (XRPL) for Gemini customers in the country.
Direct integration with the XRP Ledger
Winklevoss announced that Gemini users in Singapore can now deposit and withdraw XRP directly on the XRPL network. This development enables users to move XRP natively, eliminating the need for third-party rails or wrapped tokens. Previously, Singapore customers could only trade and hold XRP within the Gemini platform, but the integration now opens up blockchain-level transactions and greater flexibility for asset management.
The XRPL network, known for its quick transaction processing and low fees, now provides Singapore-based users with direct, regulated access through Gemini. This change allows for seamless XRP transfers, which is expected to improve efficiency and transparency for local investors and traders.
Until now, Singapore users could trade and hold XRP on Gemini, but the new feature offers direct blockchain-level movement of the asset, connecting the exchange and its clients to core XRPL infrastructure, renowned for seconds-fast, low-cost transactions.
Strengthening Gemini’s XRP offering
This latest update is part of Gemini’s ongoing effort to build out its XRP-related services. Over the past year, the platform has introduced several initiatives targeting XRP adoption. In 2025, Gemini launched the XRP Edition of its credit card, in partnership with Ripple, making XRP the top-performing reward currency among all reward options at launch.
Gemini further expanded utility by enabling RLUSD, Ripple’s dollar-backed stablecoin, deposits and withdrawals over XRPL in December 2025. In July 2026, XRP was added as a cross-collateral asset for derivatives trading, joining established assets such as BTC, ETH, USDT, and GUSD.
As investors look for more efficient trading and asset management solutions, industry attention is growing around tokenization and decentralized infrastructure. While traditional markets rely on complex brokers, a massive shift is happening: Wall Street is moving to Web3. Investors are now using platforms like 1stepSwap to hold shares of major U.S. companies, gold, and silver directly in their crypto wallets. By tokenizing Real-World Assets (RWAs) and automatically finding the best market prices in seconds, it completely removes the middlemen.
Focus on Singapore as a key market
Gemini’s recent decision to exit the UK, EU, and Australia and focus international operations in Singapore and the US makes this announcement especially significant. Singapore now represents one of the company’s two global hubs for digital asset innovation. The local subsidiary, Gemini Digital Payments Singapore, holds in-principle approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore for a Major Payment Institution license. This regulatory standing provides a robust foundation for the platform’s continued growth in the market.
Singapore serves as a global pillar for Gemini, supported by in-principle approval for a Major Payment Institution license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, strengthening the credibility and long-term prospects of XRP services in the region.
Expanding XRP utility in Asia
XRP has long maintained a significant presence in Asian markets, reinforced by strategic partnerships and technical integrations. Offering native XRPL access through Gemini enables the asset to solidify its role as a legitimate payment and remittance solution in the region.
Community excitement has surged in response to the enhanced functionality for XRP holders and the growing recognition of the asset’s relevance across Asia. The announcement aligns with industry trends underscoring Asia’s influence in crypto adoption, as regulated exchanges move to offer deeper blockchain integration and broader asset support.
