According to Gunzilla Games, the developer of the soon-to-be-released “Off the Grid,” a funding round jointly managed by CoinFund and Avalanche‘s Blizzard Fund has raised $30 million.
Game Development Updates
“Off the Grid,” a free-to-play battle royale video game, is rumored to be available not only on PC but also on Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox. Gunzilla Games describes the new third-person shooter game as follows:
It utilizes a groundbreaking full asset ownership and player-focused in-game economy concept.
In addition, Gunzilla Games stated that the “total $30 million increase” includes a “strategic token round of $10 million,” with participation from Republic Capital and Morningstar Ventures, and also covers “previously unmentioned equity and validator sales.”
This investment support for Gunzilla Games comes after a financing round of $46 million that took place since August 2022.
Vlad Korolev, co-founder and CEO of Gunzilla Games, made another significant statement regarding the matter. In his statement, the CEO mentioned that when “Off the Grid” and GUNZ are released soon, they will not only offer innovations in AAA games but will also set a new standard in the blockchain space.
The team, hoping to exceed players’ expectations with “Off the Grid,” also emphasized their intention to enhance interactions within the game universe by incorporating a decentralized and community-focused in-game economy.
Evan Feng, partner and Research Director at CoinFund, made a statement saying:
I believe the gap between traditional and on-chain games is closing rapidly and will reverse as game developers choose to leverage the full power of blockchain technology.
Platform for Trading In-Game Assets
Gunzilla Games announced that GUNZ is a blockchain-supported platform that will empower players with full ownership of in-game items as tradable NFTs in an on-chain marketplace and mobile applications, not only for Gunzilla but also for other AAA game developers.
The company also stated that the GUNZ test network was launched in April of the previous year. Lydia Chiu, executive at Ava Labs and president of the Blizzard Fund, said:
“Off the Grid” seamlessly integrates complex wallets and NFT acquisition, typical challenging web3 elements, into the natural gameplay, offering everyday console gamers an inadvertent blockchain gaming experience.
