Compared to the previous GameFi hype, which focused heavily on play-to-earn features rather than the gaming experience, the next hype inspired by the blockchain field costs at least seven to eight figures and takes years of production before hitting the market. This thought belongs to Yezi, the chief operating officer of the Korean game studio Seraph.
What’s Happening in the GameFi Field?
In statements regarding the company, the executive spoke about ARPG Seraph: In the Darkness, which will be presented on the Arbitrum network, and revealed that they spent more than $10 million on development costs:
“Initially, our project was self-financed and developed. We only recently started our first external fundraising round, which has just been completed, and an official announcement will be made soon.”
According to Yezi, Web3 blockchain games actually have significant advantages compared to their Web2 counterparts:
“Web 3 games encourage a greater sense of co-creation and promotion among players. The interaction between Web2 and Web3 players creates a unique chemistry that drives market transactions and attracts more participants.”
However, the blockchain developer also emphasized the need for newer GameFi projects to provide a better gaming experience along with quality tokenomics:
“Players are no longer satisfied with simple profit calculation models like the previous games of Axies Infinity and StepN.”
Notable Statements from a Famous Name
Yezi explained that Seraph: In the Darkness recently conducted its pre-season launch, which saw noticeable interest:
“This test phase initially enabled traditional users to make payments and especially facilitated the transition of experienced players to the Web3 space through live streams.”
If players want to engage in trading and earning money, the game is planned to be released later this year with both free-to-play and paid versions. Currently, the base price of NFT equipment is 0.2 Ethereum, and there is a $50 entry fee for access to the in-game transaction market. Yezi concluded with the following statements:
“Seraph Studio currently has no plans to release another game, but our in-house developed custody wallet ActPass will become a gaming platform in the near future, facilitating the release of higher quality games through investments or collaborations.”
