Manchester United launched a new Web3-based football game called “Fantasy United” on the Tezos Blockchain. This game allows fans to virtually manage Manchester United players and includes various digital collectibles like player trading cards. These cards are updated with real-time statistics to enhance fan engagement. The club aims to be closer to its fans in the digital world with this project.
What It Brings for Players?
The “Fantasy United” game introduces Player Trading Cards in different versions such as Classic, Rare, and Ultra Rare. Fans can use these cards to create virtual teams of five players. Additionally, the cards are updated with real-time performance statistics. This allows fans to closely follow player performances. The game enables fans to compete against friends, join mini leagues, and earn points based on real-life player performance.
Manchester United’s digital innovation director Ronan Joyce states that fans can collect the entire first-team squad through Player Trading Cards, which will evolve as matches are played throughout the season. These cards can be used in the fantasy football game, providing an exciting experience for fans. Built on the Tezos Blockchain, this project stands out as part of the ongoing successful collaboration between Manchester United and the Tezos ecosystem.
Aiming for an Active Fan Community
The club aims to create an active fan community through the interactive features achieved with “The Devils” digital collectibles in collaboration with Tezos. Sunil Singhvi, the head of culture at Tezos R&D Center Trilitech, emphasizes that Player Trading Cards and Fantasy United are innovative uses of Blockchain technology to help fans form a deeper connection with their favorite club. With dynamically updated collections, fans can cheer for their players while watching the season unfold.
Player Trading Cards are available in packs of seven for £3, and fans who own “The Devils” collection have early access to these cards. This new digital collection and fantasy football game aim to offer Manchester United fans more interaction and engagement in both the virtual and real worlds.
