Pharma Bro Martin Shkreli, now claims that Donald Trump’s 18-year-old son Barron Trump launched the TrumpCoin (DJT) token with his father’s approval and holds the private keys to the smart contract address. Shkreli, who was sentenced to over six years in prison for securities fraud, claims that Barron Trump approached him in April to launch the Solana-based token according to Birdseye data.
What’s Happening with DJT?
At an X Spaces event hosted by Mario Nawfal, Shkreli claimed he only advised his friend Barron Trump on the token launch but had no active role in its distribution. Instead, he claimed that Barron Trump is the real creator of DJT and added that the crypto phenomenon Ansem is also involved. On June 18, Shkreli posted the following on X regarding the matter:
“I taught someone how to communicate and he pressed the button, not me. The private information is with Trump, not me. I did not act alone.”
He also claimed that Barron Trump is in contact with the crypto exchange Kraken to discuss the potential listing of DJT and added that Donald Trump is not only aware of the DJT token but also approves of it.
Claims Regarding the Matter
Shkreli tried to support his case by bringing a young man with fewer than 500 X followers, known as the Mongolian Prince, who allegedly worked with Shkreli, to the X Spaces event. The notably shy Mongolian Prince made some striking comments regarding the matter.
The Mongolian Prince claims he recently met Barron Trump in Florida, but his account of Donald Trump’s alleged involvement is much less clear according to the report. The Mongolian Prince and Barron claimed they showed the Solana-based Phantom wallet to Barron’s father before the DJT token launch, and his father responded with laughter.
The seven-hour X Spaces event came a day after blockchain detective ZachXBT won a $150,000 reward from blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence for identifying Shkreli as the creator of the DJT token. Adam Cochran, a partner at venture capital firm Cinneamhain Ventures, accused Shkreli of orchestrating a high-profile event to clear his name.
