Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, has responded to criticism surrounding AI-generated content shared on Input Output’s official X account. According to Hoskinson, the well-intentioned posts were aimed at demonstrating the potential of emerging technologies, but the community’s reaction was unexpectedly negative.
AI experiments advance in Midnight City
Hoskinson explained that the Midnight City team continues to develop an interactive AI simulation and testing environment for the Midnight Network. This platform models a vibrant society where autonomous agents work, trade, and create economic activity. Transactions within this environment are public, offering perspectives for both regulators and community oversight.
Midnight Network stands out in the Cardano ecosystem for its privacy-centric infrastructure innovations. Midnight City acts as a simulation layer, designed to make the network’s operations more transparent and to test a wide range of use cases.
Hoskinson said the AI-generated content on the official account was published to showcase what new tools can do, but it drew much harsher criticism from the community than expected.
AI emerges as a necessity for community management
Highlighting OpenClaw as one of the fastest-growing open-source AI agent platforms in history, Hoskinson pointed out the growing challenge of scaling communication and community management teams as the ecosystem expands. He argued that AI agents can play a vital role in bridging this gap.
He added that these systems could help categorize, organize, and share updates about events in Midnight City on a much larger scale. This would make information flows and content distribution more sustainable.
Quick note: Autonomous agents are software systems capable of making decisions and executing transactions independently in pursuit of specific objectives. Agentic trading describes these agents operating within set rules or models to carry out transactions.
Hoskinson emphasized that to provide timely, regular updates about what’s happening in Midnight City, the team would need to utilize agents and artificial intelligence. He stressed the importance of investing in cutting-edge technology in the field.
Millions of users targeted with AI-powered platforms
Hoskinson also revealed that their focus in the AI space extends to more sophisticated publishing tools, AI-driven communications, and new generation marketing strategies. He clarified that this is more than just a technical experiment—it’s part of a broader effort to shape the future of communication and product engagement.
He added that agent-powered trading and partnership-driven models could attract millions of new users to the Midnight ecosystem. That’s why he sees Midnight City as a flagship project, with teams closely following all AI standards and working to integrate them into the system.
