It has been revealed that a third-party supplier of the crypto analysis company, Nansen, has been targeted in a hack attack. This incident led to the exposure of users’ email addresses and passwords, as well as leaked Blockchain wallet addresses.
6.8% of User Emails Leaked in the Attack
Another hack attack has shaken the cryptocurrency market. The target of the attack was Nansen, one of the leading crypto analysis firms. This attack resulted in a significant data leak. As a result, 6.8% of user emails and some of their Blockchain wallet addresses were exposed.
Nansen stated that one of its third-party suppliers had suffered a hack attack, which resulted in the exposure of email addresses, passwords, and some Blockchain wallet addresses.
In an official statement from their X account, the crypto analysis firm reported that 6.8% of users were affected by the hack attack. They also mentioned that the email addresses of these users were leaked, the hash values of some users’ passwords were exposed, and a smaller group had their Blockchain wallet addresses leaked.
Nansen also shared the critical detail of the attack. The attacker managed to leak the data by gaining administrative access to an account used to access the platform.
Affected Customers Contacted
The cryptocurrency market continues to be a frequent target for bad actors due to its high financial flow. With this hack attack, Nansen has joined the long list of bad actors targeting the crypto market.
Although the name of the third-party supplier was not disclosed, Nansen shared almost all the details about the data breach. While contacting the affected users, Nansen urged them to immediately change their passwords and be cautious against phishing attacks.
