Polygon has expanded its Open Money Stack platform to now support Solana, aiming to streamline stablecoin and cross-chain payment infrastructure for businesses operating on both networks. The announcement, released on October 29, highlights Polygon’s shift toward integrating with major crypto ecosystems including those previously seen as competitors.

Polygon-Solana Integration Targets Cross-Network Financial Services

The Open Money Stack allows businesses building on Solana to access a single interface for linking bank accounts, managing stablecoin wallets, and enabling cross-chain payments. This integration supports a wide range of payment methods, including bank transfers, card payments, cash deposits, and cryptocurrency transactions.

With this new capability, companies can now convert traditional currencies into stablecoins, store those assets within Solana wallets managed through Polygon’s infrastructure, and carry out asset transfers across multiple supported blockchains. When payments are received, recipients have the option to convert stablecoins back into local currencies and withdraw to their bank accounts or payment cards.

Previously, businesses frequently relied on a fragmented system involving multiple providers for banking integration, cryptocurrency conversion, wallet management, and blockchain transfers. Polygon’s unified platform aims to consolidate these services while maintaining Solana as the underlying settlement layer for on-chain transactions.

The integration follows a similar expansion with TRON, where Polygon linked traditional payment systems to an ecosystem hosting more than $94 billion in USDT circulation. Polygon’s broader strategy now emphasizes connecting large stablecoin networks, rather than focusing solely on driving transaction volumes within its own blockchain.

Solana Payment Infrastructure Enhanced by Polygon’s Regulated Network

Solana reportedly processes over $2 trillion in stablecoin transfer volume each quarter, a figure that reflects overall network activity rather than total stablecoin supply or revenue from payments. Much of this volume arises from a combination of trading, transfers, and activity unrelated to direct commerce or remittance.

Polygon is seeking to channel Solana’s high on-chain volume into practical, regulated financial services that span both networks, supporting features such as embedded wallets holding assets including USDC, USDT, PYUSD, SOL, and wrapped SOL.

Polygon’s acquisition of Coinme adds regulated money transmission coverage across 48 US states, allowing eligible businesses to connect standard US payment methods directly with Solana-based stablecoins, without the burden of developing every infrastructure component themselves.

In practice, a company could accept payments in USDC from an Ethereum address, utilize Polygon’s infrastructure for transfer, and settle for the recipient on Solana in SOL or another supported asset. This structure provides businesses with more flexible options to move assets between traditional finance and blockchain systems.

Growth in stablecoin-based activity on Solana offers new payment use cases without obliging developers to migrate away from the network. Polygon benefits by attracting business from outside its own ecosystem, extending its regulated payment services to developers and enterprises working with Solana’s tokenized markets.

Future Outlook: Adoption and Practical Applications

Despite these developments, Polygon has yet to disclose transactional data, fee income, or customer adoption specifically resulting from the Solana integration. The company’s solution targets a broad set of businesses including fintech firms, international marketplaces, payroll processors, and global remittance providers seeking to bridge conventional banking with blockchain networks.

Whether this infrastructure will be widely adopted for everyday payment flows, or remain focused on cryptocurrency transfers, remains to be seen as both Polygon and Solana position themselves as key players in interoperable, cross-chain finance.

Both networks are advancing toward a more connected system, aiming to let users move money between blockchains and traditional banks without requiring full technical expertise from the end-user.

As stablecoin transfer volume on Solana continues to grow and institutional interest in blockchain payments accelerates, demand for real-time transaction tracking and portfolio management is expected to increase among businesses and service providers. CryptoAppsy’s customizable portfolio tracking and coin-specific news alerts can help enterprises monitor asset flows and market changes across both Polygon and Solana, offering a unified dashboard for managing stablecoins and cross-network transactions as new integrations like this one accelerate.
