With an agreement announced on October 17th, the XRP token will be accepted as a payment method on an online gaming platform. With this development, Ripple has once again proven itself.
An Important Step for Ripple
Roblox, a globally renowned gaming platform with over 200 million monthly active users, will now accept XRP as a payment method, according to an announcement made by BitPay, a blockchain payment provider, on X on October 17th.
XRP, offered as a payment option on the platform, will now be supported by Xsolla, which manages in-game payments on Roblox. BitPay is also part of this system as a partner responsible for seamless integration with crypto wallets.
Roblox, which serves on a wide range of platforms such as Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, has a daily active user base of 65.5 million. It’s worth noting that 44% of the platform’s users are under the age of 13. Additionally, users on the globally renowned gaming platform spent approximately $773 million on in-game purchases in the first quarter of 2023.
What Happened During the Process?
Roblox took on the task of integrating the cryptocurrency payment system instead of Xsolla. As a result of partnerships between Coinchange Financial, a platform providing automatic crypto management services, and TradeZing, a live streaming service provider on the social Web3 platform, a crypto asset payment system was developed. Following all these developments, in August 2023, the famous cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com joined forces with Xsolla’s Pay Station platform to integrate their payment solution.
The partnership between Xsolla and BitPay dates back to 2014, when the payment service started accepting Bitcoin. In September 2023, BitPay and Xsolla introduced PayPal USD payments for traders and individual users. The inclusion of a major community token like XRP in the payment system could help the platform reach a significant user base.
