Samsung Electronics has announced the integration of Solana-based stablecoin payments into 82 million Galaxy smartphones across the United States, expanding its digital asset ecosystem and payment features.
Solana partnership enables cross-border stablecoin payments
The Solana Foundation stated that Samsung has partnered with the organization to introduce cross-border payments through Samsung Wallet, utilizing the stablecoin USDC. The new feature will become available to users in the last week of October 2026 and will not require the installation of separate cryptocurrency applications to send or receive digital dollars internationally.
Transactions will use the Solana blockchain infrastructure in the background, while the app itself will provide fiat on- and off-ramps for users to exchange between stablecoins and local currencies efficiently. Samsung says eligible users will be able to send USDC directly to compatible crypto wallets without incurring transfer fees from Samsung. An option to send funds to eligible bank accounts in more than 60 countries is also being offered, though these transactions will be subject to transfer fees.
Samsung’s move to integrate Solana USDC payments into its Galaxy devices streamlines international transactions, offering seamless access to digital dollars for millions of users in the US.
This rollout will initially cover 82 million Galaxy devices that are compatible with Samsung Wallet in the United States, with eligibility criteria and ID verification steps required for access.

New collaborations and rapid stablecoin growth
Samsung is also collaborating with Coinbase, a leading US-based cryptocurrency exchange, and Bastion, a payment infrastructure company, to bolster its stablecoin custody and payment capabilities. For this initiative, USDC reserves will be held in Coinbase Prime, while Samsung is integrating the Sui blockchain to expand its stablecoin usage within the app.
The integration comes amid a surge in stablecoin activity on the Solana network. The Solana Foundation reports that the total stablecoin supply on Solana has increased nearly 20% over the past year. Since the beginning of 2026, the volume of stablecoin transactions conducted on Solana has surpassed $5.25 trillion.
| Metric | Solana (2026) |
|---|---|
| Stablecoin supply growth (12 months) | +20% |
| Stablecoin transaction volume (2026) | $5.25 trillion |
| Samsung Galaxy devices (initial rollout) | 82 million |
| Supported countries (bank account payouts) | Over 60 |
Samsung’s evolving crypto strategy
Samsung has been active in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space for several years. In 2019, the company introduced the Samsung Blockchain Keystore alongside its flagship Galaxy S10 smartphone, allowing secure storage of private keys for cryptocurrencies on mobile devices. Samsung Blockchain Wallet was also launched to let users manage digital assets and interact with decentralized applications.
By 2021, Samsung expanded its blockchain ecosystem by adding compatibility with hardware wallets such as the Ledger Nano S and Nano X. At that time, support extended to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron, and numerous tokens, enhancing cryptocurrency access and security for its users.
Recently, the company has deepened its collaboration with Coinbase. In July 2025, Samsung Pay partnered with Coinbase, enabling eligible users to buy cryptocurrencies and add funds to trading accounts via the Samsung payment app. This partnership grew further in October 2025 with Samsung Wallet users receiving Coinbase One subscription promotions and additional crypto-related benefits.
Samsung’s commitment to blockchain technology has evolved from early private key storage solutions to seamless integration of stablecoin payments across millions of Galaxy phones.
