Crypto analytics firm Santiment reported encouraging signals in altcoins following Bitcoin 
$106,902‘s rise above $100,000. They identified a metric showing a sudden increase in altcoins, suggesting that market dynamics are shifting favorably for these digital assets.
Increase in Whale Transactions
According to Santiment, significant whale transactions have been observed across various altcoin projects, including the stablecoin Dai (DAI) issued by Maker. This increase could indicate that investors are anticipating substantial movement in the market.
Santiment noted that the rising purchases of DAI suggest that investors might be considering accumulating altcoins using stablecoins soon. This scenario hints at the potential appreciation of altcoin values.
“Increased activity with stablecoins is often a good sign that large amounts of funds are about to be exchanged for altcoins. For example, Dai is commonly associated with ETH-based assets,” said Santiment.
Whale Transactions in Top Altcoins
This week, Santiment shared a list of the top 10 altcoins with the largest increase in whale transactions, all having a market cap of at least $500 million. This list showcases significant movements within the altcoin market.
“Assets with high whale activity are more likely to experience price reversals around profit-taking or bottom-buying movements,” Santiment cautioned.
Furthermore, Santiment reported a substantial rise in network activity alongside an increase in XRP’s value. Currently trading at $3.24, XRP experienced a 4.2% decline over the last 24 hours.
For the first time since January 2018, XRP surpassed a market value of $3.39, leading to 2,365 transactions above $100,000 within an eight-hour period. A notable increase in total investor numbers was also observed.
These developments may present potential opportunities in the altcoin market for investors. However, Santiment warns that high whale activities may lead to market fluctuations, necessitating caution.
