The fallout from the FTX incident continues to exert significant pressure on the cryptocurrency markets globally. Following the collapse, numerous countries implemented stringent cryptocurrency regulations, heavily impacting investors. The exact damage caused by FTX’s former CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), to the global crypto market remains incalculable. Despite his incarceration, SBF remains actively involved in the ongoing discourse.
Inside the Prison Walls: SBF’s Remarks
SBF has been using his lawyers to communicate messages from prison, revealing intriguing details about his current situation. He recently claimed that his lawyers misled him, resulting in his imprisonment. Trusting them seemingly led to his downfall. Despite repeated assertions of his wrongful imprisonment, SBF’s comments on China have drawn a response from a well-known crypto detective, ZachXBT.
SBF alleged that CZ, Binance‘s CEO, had ties with China, potentially funding related news stories around 2022. ZachXBT challenged these claims by reminding the public of a $40 million transfer to Chinese officials that Binance supposedly concealed. SBF responded, questioning the necessity of withholding the entire transaction or criticizing Bahamian exchanges for similar actions.
The Mystery of ZachXBT’s Identity
The idea of ZachXBT being someone significant like CZ would certainly be intriguing. ZachXBT has unraveled numerous crypto cases and assisted multiple investors, even offering substantial support to government agencies. Many recall when IRS detectives persistently sought his guidance. If ZachXBT were indeed CZ, it would boost the Binance founder’s image, spawning headlines about the mysterious detective’s real identity as the famous crypto billionaire.
SBF’s sarcastic comment about CZ’s supposedly better commitments might also imply several things. Perhaps it alludes to SBF being targeted during the collapse by ZachXBT, supposedly at CZ’s behest. SBF might be mocking CZ regarding alleged Chinese connections, results of targeting by ZachXBT. Or, it simply hints at unveiling ZachXBT’s real identity.
The most amusing part of the exchange was SBF’s (implied) challenge to CZ: “don’t you have better things to do?”—a curious statement from someone facing 23 more years in prison.
