Efforts to streamline infrastructure complexity in Sei Network (SEI) are gaining momentum as Philip Su from the developer team proposes reducing Cosmos support and focusing solely on Ethereum 
$2,584-compatible transactions. While the dual architecture offers flexibility, it is considered problematic due to the increased complexity of the codebase. The plan aims to accelerate development processes and simplify debugging.
Addressing Issues Arising from Dual Architecture
The current design of Sei Network includes support for both CosmWasm and the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), enabling compatibility with various smart contract models and providing a flexible infrastructure for DeFi applications. However, developers highlight that the expansion of the codebase leads to complex updates and prolonged debugging processes. The functional richness has brought along an extra burden.
Philip Su believes that the dual architecture creates a steep learning curve for beginners. The issues manifest through increased error messages during integration tests and system updates. The code complexity heightens the risk of incompatibility between modules, thereby slowing down project progress. The demand for simplicity is voiced to alleviate this burden.
