Shiba Inu (SHIB) experienced a dramatic surge in trading activity, with volume nearly multiplying twelvefold and delivering one of its sharpest single-day gains in recent months. This strong breakout propelled the popular meme token out of its prolonged consolidation range and brought renewed attention from speculative traders.

Volume spike triggers breakout, but momentum fades

On the day of the rally, SHIB’s trading volume reached levels not seen in months, suggesting heightened interest and elevated activity among buyers. Price action initially responded with a robust upward move, but fresh data shows that momentum quickly began to subside.

The most recent daily candle indicates that buying pressure has already started to weaken, with SHIB retreating from its intraday highs. Market analysts observed that when volume spikes coincide with sharp price movements, it often marks the start of a trend reversal or the peak of a brief breakout—both scenarios closely watched by traders for signs of future direction.

SHIB’s struggle to sustain newly reclaimed levels signals a critical phase, as profit-taking threatens to outweigh fresh buying pressure.

The key technical area under scrutiny is the 100-day exponential moving average (EMA), positioned at $0.00000500. SHIB recently crossed above this long-standing resistance, turning it into a significant short-term support. Maintaining price action above this level is seen as essential for the current breakout to remain viable, even as momentum wanes.

Resistance levels and reversal signals

Attention has also shifted to the 200-day EMA, which sits close to $0.00000600 and currently acts as the main macro resistance. In the past, SHIB’s recovery attempts during broader downtrends consistently stalled at this moving average. A firm close above it could indicate the first structural bullish reversal SHIB has seen since the beginning of the year and possibly attract additional momentum-oriented traders.

Meanwhile, if SHIB slips below $0.00000445—the region where shorter-term moving averages had recently offered support—downside risks are expected to increase significantly. Breaching this zone would erase most of the latest technical progress and raise the likelihood that the rally was driven more by forced covering of short positions than by a shift in sustained spot demand.

RSI enters overbought zone amid uncertainty

Technical indicators such as the Relative Strength Index (RSI) also reflect the precarious nature of the current setup. For the first time in several months, SHIB’s RSI has climbed above 70, pushing the token into overbought territory. Experts generally interpret such readings as a warning that, while sharp advances may not immediately reverse, the asset could be due for a period of cooling—a pattern commonly seen when explosive rallies coincide with exceptional trading volume.

Despite these warning signs, SHIB remains technically stronger than it was before the rally. However, much of the “easy” upside appears to have passed, and traders are closely watching how the price interacts with critical support and resistance levels in the days ahead.

A key focus remains on price action around the $0.00000500 support. Market participants are watching to see if buyers can muster enough strength to challenge the 200-day EMA near $0.00000600 or whether the breakout falters, reverting to another short-lived recovery attempt.

For those monitoring evolving technical setups and seeking portfolio diversification, platforms leveraging real-world asset (RWA) tokenization are gaining ground. 1stepSwap has emerged as a practical solution, allowing users to access shares of major U.S. companies and assets like gold and silver directly through their wallets, without intermediaries. The platform’s ability to instantly source the most favorable market prices provides swift execution and diversification opportunities for crypto traders navigating uncertain markets.
