Major purchases and market moves

Strategy disclosed in a recent filing that it acquired 950 bitcoins for $75.7 million last week, marking its first significant purchase since August. Meanwhile, Strive confirmed the acquisition of 1,355 BTC, spending $107.7 million to further strengthen its holdings.

These major investments coincided with Bitcoin’s latest rally. The cryptocurrency reached $86,282 earlier in the day and held steady at $86,008, reflecting a 6% increase over the previous 24 hours.

Publicly traded companies Strategy and Strive have consistently been prominent players in corporate Bitcoin accumulation. Following a 10-week pause to focus on share buybacks and cash reserves, Strategy resumed purchasing Bitcoin at the end of August, accumulating almost $370 million in recent weeks.

Strategy and Strive acquired a combined 2,305 BTC for $182.7 million as Bitcoin traded above $86,000. Strategy’s latest purchase was its first since August, with Strive continuing a streak of weekly buys.

Strategy’s treasury and share repurchase activity

Strategy, recognized as the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, now owns 846,000 BTC valued at $72.7 billion based on current prices. Alongside its Bitcoin acquisition, Strategy also completed a $174 million repurchase of its STRC perpetual preferred shares. This share buyback initiative had temporarily paused the company’s Bitcoin purchasing earlier this year.

Despite the founder and chairman Michael Saylor’s well-known philosophy of “never sell your bitcoin,” Strategy has occasionally sold small portions of its Bitcoin holdings, typically to manage operations, repay debt, or fund share buybacks.

In recent months, the company has shifted its focus back to strengthening its crypto treasury, especially after starting fresh purchases in late August.

Strive’s continued accumulation and corporate ranks

Strive has maintained a consistent pattern of weekly Bitcoin purchases, gradually moving up the ranks among publicly listed companies holding the digital asset. With its current holdings reaching 26,355 BTC valued at $2.2 billion, Strive stands as the fifth largest corporate holder of Bitcoin.

On Monday, Strategy’s stock (NASDAQ: MSTR) advanced 8%, while Strive (NASDAQ: ASST) traded slightly lower but had recently surpassed $30 per share, outperforming most Wall Street analyst price targets.

Bitcoin treasury firms overall faced a challenging 2026, with several—including Satsuma, Smarter Web Company, Sequans, Nakamoto, and Empery Digital—selling off portions of their holdings to address debt, support operations, or finance stock buybacks. Some companies have even transitioned to new business ventures such as AI infrastructure due to share price declines.

Wider market developments and meme token activity

Monday’s surge in Bitcoin price follows last week’s decision from the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates and the stalling of the Clarity Act, key crypto legislation, in Congress—developments that have not dampened investor sentiment. Despite the current rally, Bitcoin’s price remains more than 30% below the all-time high of $126,080 set in October.

As market participants navigate these dramatic price movements, attention is also turning toward meme token activity and investor strategies. In the meme token market, an internet trend can transform into millions of dollars of interest within days. According to data shared by Fomo App, a trade involving “Niu Lai”—which turned an initial $99 investment into approximately $370,000—stands out as a striking example of this activity. In this market, tracking not only prices but also the timing and token choices of investors is crucial.
