Tether, the issuer of the USDT stable token, announced the addition of 8,888 Bitcoin 
$103,051 in the first quarter of 2025. This acquisition, valued at approximately $735 million, aligns with Tether’s long-term strategy of accumulating Bitcoin. The purchase occurred during a significant downturn when Bitcoin’s price had dropped by 12%.
Tether’s Acquisition Strategy
In a May 2023 announcement, the company revealed that 15% of its quarterly profit would be allocated to Bitcoin purchases. Under this strategy, Tether consistently buys BTC. Currently, the firm holds 92,647 Bitcoin, with an estimated asset value of around $7.64 billion.
In the last 24 hours, $1 billion worth of USDT was also produced on TronDAO, bringing the firm’s total production to approximately $40 billion last year. Additionally, developments such as Ripple 
$2’s RLUSD launch and Circle’s market expansion efforts have been observed, influencing competitive dynamics in the sector.
