The world of cryptocurrency has been targeted by a new hack attack. The on-chain trading platform Thunder Terminal was hit by a hack attack. The platform lost 86.5 Ethereum (ETH) valued at $192,000.
$192,000 Worth of ETH Transferred to Railgun
On-chain detective ZachXBT reported that the on-chain trading platform Thunder Terminal was hacked. The attacker stole 86.5 ETH worth $192,000 from the platform and transferred it to Railgun, a community project for peer-to-peer privacy in decentralized finance (DeFi).
After previously stating that the funds were secure and that reimbursement of the stolen funds would be made shortly, Thunder Terminal made a new statement today saying, “No one’s private keys are at risk.” The statement also mentioned that “Only 114 out of more than 14,000 wallet addresses were affected by the hack attack. Funds are secure moving forward.” and indicated that the hack was stopped in less than nine minutes.
Following Thunder Terminal’s announcement, ZachXBT drew attention to a note left on-chain by the attacker. This note states that the platform’s announcement does not reflect the truth and that everything in the statement is a lie. Furthermore, the note added, “We also have all user data. We will delete the data for 50 ETH.”
Thunder Terminal Shares Details: 86.5 ETH and 439 SOL Stolen
In a separate incident report, Thunder Terminal shared that the hack was carried out through session tokens leaked from the server, which allowed the attackers to be recognized as authorized and directly withdraw funds from the platform. Thunder Terminal also confirmed that in addition to approximately 86.5 ETH, 439 SOL valued at $47,800 were stolen in the attack.
In this last announcement, the platform also added, “All lost funds will be fully reimbursed, and affected users will be charged a 0% fee and each will be given a $100,000 credit.”
