TON Core team, in collaboration with Tonkeeper, launched the W5 smart wallet standard and promised free transactions on The Open Network (TON) blockchain. The upgrade to the Layer-1 ecosystem’s existing wallet smart contract will allow users to use Tether and Notcoin for transaction fees when transferring USDT.
What’s Happening on the TON Front?
According to a press release, the W5 smart wallet is live on Tonkeeper and will soon be available on TON Space and MyTonWallet. The W5 smart wallet was first developed by Tonkeeper and approved by the TON Core team to offer advanced transaction management in the TON ecosystem.
Adding free features for USDT and Notcoin payments aims to facilitate payments and reduce barriers for newcomers by eliminating the need to hold Toncoin. The smart wallet allows users to perform up to 255 transactions simultaneously, aiming to create a smoother and more efficient user experience.
Despite its relatively new entry into the decentralized application (DApp) space, TON has surpassed Optimism to become the 10th largest blockchain network by total value locked (TVL). With TVL exceeding $760 million, The Open Network Foundation partnered with 1inch and Sign on July 10 to launch the Web3 startup accelerator Triangle. This partnership aims to focus on developing win-win (P2E) mini games following the success of the Telegram-based game Notcoin.

On July 18, the TON Foundation introduced a Bitcoin bridge to solidify the platform’s vision of becoming a blockchain network. Jack Booth, the marketing director of the TON Foundation, explained that the new Bitcoin bridge would allow users to transfer their Bitcoins to TON.
Booth discussed the security measures of the new bridge and emphasized that the Bitcoin bridge would be highly resistant to private key risks. Recently, TON has gained user appreciation through notable airdrop events, successfully pleasing its users in the process. Successful token listings are closely followed by market participants.
