Keeper, previously known as Tonkeeper, has announced its rebranding and expansion into a multichain cryptocurrency wallet. The company said the new version now supports seven networks, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, TRON, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum, and Base, alongside the original TON blockchain. Keeper reportedly serves more than 77 million registered users.

Broader multichain access and user control

Originally created as a dedicated wallet for the TON blockchain, Keeper now aims to address the growing trend of users managing assets across several networks. Existing crypto wallets often require moving funds between multiple apps, navigating bridges, and handling different gas tokens. With the expanded support, Keeper positions itself as a unified solution that allows users to hold and move funds across all compatible networks while maintaining full control of their private keys.

The company stated that these changes are part of its effort to simplify multichain asset management and make self-custody more accessible. Users can transfer digital assets seamlessly without needing to switch between wallets or services.

Management handover and ongoing development

Keeper’s rebrand concludes a recent transition in operational leadership. The Open Platform, the company behind ‘Wallet’ in Telegram, took over day-to-day management from the original founders, Oleg Andreev and Oleg Illarionov, who continue to hold equity in the product. The Open Platform is a project aimed at building crypto infrastructure for Telegram’s vast global audience. Andrew Rogozov, its founder and CEO, directed the operational transition.

In an official statement, Rogozov described the rebrand as “the next chapter: taking the simplicity we’re known for beyond TON and into the broader crypto economy.” He outlined the company’s goal “to build the default self-custodial wallet for a multichain world.”

Battery feature and upcoming roadmap

Keeper retains its signature feature, previously called Battery. This mechanism covers transaction fees on behalf of users, allowing them to send assets such as USDT without needing to hold the specific gas tokens required by each supported network, for example TRX for TRON or TON for the TON blockchain.

Mini dictionary: Battery, a feature in Keeper that pays blockchain transaction fees for users so they do not need to own network-specific gas tokens for each transaction.

Rogozov expressed that the ambition behind Keeper is to become the primary self-custodial wallet for an interconnected, multichain crypto environment, emphasizing the expansion of existing user-friendly features like Battery beyond TON.

Looking ahead, The Open Platform plans to extend the Battery feature to every supported network and introduce additional tools, including built-in decentralized finance (DeFi) options, cross-chain swaps, an integrated browser for onchain applications, and, within the next year, perpetual futures trading.

Competitive landscape and industry context

Keeper’s multichain launch positions it among an increasingly competitive field of cryptocurrency wallets offering similar services. The move also strengthens Keeper’s integration with The Open Platform, which markets itself as the infrastructure layer delivering crypto experiences to Telegram’s audience of more than a billion users worldwide.

MetaMask, another major player in the sector, has recently started transitioning into a standalone company as many consumer wallets look to provide comprehensive financial products rather than solely serving as crypto storage solutions.

The company’s push for multichain compatibility and enhanced user experience is part of an evolving effort among wallet providers to support a broader range of assets and financial services.
