Although not directly related to former US President Donald Trump, the altcoin Trump MAGA (TRUMP), which bears his name, has shown a significant rise, creating a new millionaire class in the emerging PoliFi (politics, finance, and cryptocurrency) sector. The altcoin has become a speculative investment for investors, especially following Trump’s recent announcement to accept donations in various cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Dogecoin (DOGE), and Shiba Inu (SHIB), for his election campaign.
The Altcoin’s Price Rose 75% in Just Two Weeks
According to on-chain data provider Nansen, the TRUMP token has risen by approximately 75% in the last two weeks, recording a significant 14% increase on May 21 following the election campaign announcement. This rally provided substantial gains for early investors in the TRUMP token, with some achieving returns exceeding 1,600%. Data shows that a single address holds over $5.5 million worth of tokens.
Several investors who purchased TRUMP tokens for low six-figure amounts now have unrealized profits exceeding $1 million. These investors are carefully reducing their positions to avoid triggering a price drop, with most sales occurring before Trump’s campaign donation announcement.
Despite positive gains for early investors, recent buyers face low investment returns and a low overall gain rate.
Currently, the TRUMP token stands out with a market capitalization of $749 million, significantly contributing to the PoliFi sector. This sector represents the intersection of politics, finance, and cryptocurrency, revealing the potential for significant financial gains through speculative investments.
Tokens Sent to Trump’s Wallet Near $5 Million in Value
Interestingly, a wallet allegedly connected to Trump is currently facing unrealized gains of approximately $5 million in TRUMP tokens.
Between August and October 2023, the developers of the memecoin sent $7,100 worth of TRUMP to this wallet. It is known that the strategy of sending tokens or coins to wallets connected to popular figures is often used as a marketing tactic to attract attention and increase investor interest.
