Cryptocurrency markets face dire consequences as the trade war leads altcoins to new lows. Recent escalations between the parties have diminished hopes for an agreement. Just moments ago, Trump issued another threat regarding additional tariffs.
Tariffs and Cryptocurrency
Trump is imposing additional tariffs, prompting retaliation from other countries. This retaliation sparks a cycle of escalating tensions. It’s clear that this situation is unsustainable, with inflationary pressures becoming undeniable.
Demands from the U.S. President
In addition to tariffs, the U.S. President seeks more concessions from Canada. He demands the removal of tariffs imposed against them and suggests that Canada should ultimately join the U.S. as its 51st state.
Trump recently announced that the tariffs on Canada will be raised to 50%.
“I instructed my Trade Secretary to add an additional 25% tariff to all STEEL and ALUMINUM products from CANADA, one of the countries with the highest tariffs in the world. This measure will commence on March 12. Additionally, Canada must immediately remove its anti-farmer tariffs, which range from 250% to 390% on various American dairy products. Soon, I will declare a National Emergency regarding Electricity in the threatened region. This will ensure we act swiftly to mitigate this malicious threat from Canada. If Canada does not also remove its other dreadful tariffs, I will significantly increase tariffs on cars coming from Canada on April 2, permanently halting car production there. These cars can easily be produced in the U.S.! Moreover, Canada pays little for national security and relies on the U.S. for military protection. We subsidize Canada by over $200 billion each year. WHY? This cannot continue. The only sensible solution is for Canada to become our beloved Fifty-First State. This way, all tariffs and other issues will be entirely resolved. Canadians will see a significant reduction in taxes, will be more secure than ever militarily, and the Northern Border issue will cease to exist, creating a larger, better, and stronger nation than ever – with Canada being a crucial part of it.”
