In the ever-evolving cryptocurrency market, notable developments continue to take place. Web3 startup Bastion has publicly announced the appointment of former a16z and Kraken Chief of Staff Caroline Friedman as its new Chief Operating Officer. Friedman took over her new role following her tenure as the firm’s Operations Manager since February.
A New Direction for Bastion
According to company officials, as COO, Friedman will oversee Bastion’s compliance processes, regulatory matters, employee plans, public policy, and financial operations. Caroline Friedman commented on the development:
“My main focus will continue to be establishing a strong operational foundation to support the business’s growth. An important part of this includes paying attention to Bastion’s regulatory and compliance framework. Compliance is not only a requirement but a critical part of our vision.”
Friedman stated that they are committed to working closely with regulators and clients to enable businesses to engage with Web3 technologies safely and effectively, taking advantage of the new and effective use cases these technologies offer. She continued:
“I will also help guide Bastion’s business growth and team-building initiatives. Our goal is to expand our customer base by offering exceptional value and service while also building a team that is aligned with our vision of empowering innovators to fully realize the potential of their interactions. We plan to continue hiring extraordinary talent while nurturing the inclusive and innovative company culture we are creating at Bastion.”
Praise for Friedman’s Appointment
Before her roles at a16z and Kraken, Friedman served as an Assistant United States Attorney responsible for Major Crimes and as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for National Security and International Crimes. According to her LinkedIn profile, Friedman is among the founding members of Bastion.
Bastion’s founding partner Nassim Eddequiouaq commented on Friedman’s new role:
