XRP is strengthening its presence within regulated derivatives markets as options tied to Canadian-listed XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are now gaining a clearer access route for investors in the United States.

Recent filings from the Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation (CDCC) show that options on both the Evolve XRP ETF (XRP) and the Purpose XRP ETF (XRPP) are included among the contracts offered by the Montréal Exchange and covered by CDCC’s Form S-20 registration for sale in the U.S.

While these options have not launched on a U.S. exchange, the structure allows eligible U.S. investors to access XRP ETF options through a regulated cross-border framework. The options remain Canadian-listed and are cleared by CDCC, but Form S-20 facilitates their legal offer and sale to U.S. participants.

This arrangement enables U.S. investors to gain options exposure to Canadian XRP ETFs without reliance on less regulated offshore derivatives markets.

Alongside this development, XRP joins the ranks of Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana as digital assets with ETF options eligible for cross-border access within the same infrastructure.

Recent regulatory filings confirm that Canadian-listed XRP ETF options are now accessible to eligible U.S. participants via a regulated clearing framework, expanding cross-border opportunities for institutional investors.

These Canadian XRP ETF options had already appeared in earlier 2026 filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), specifically naming the Evolve XRP ETF and Purpose XRP ETF options. The latest CDCC documents reaffirm their status in regulated cross-border trading, rather than marking a completely new approval.

Mini dictionary: Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation (CDCC): CDCC is the central clearing counterparty for exchange-traded derivatives in Canada, responsible for managing clearing, settlement, and risk for derivatives contracts including futures and options.

Federal regulatory filings align XRP with leading crypto assets

A separate Federal Register document adds another significant regulatory layer. The document lists Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, and XRP as assets that currently meet generic listing standards for commodity-based trust shares.

This regulatory approach does not classify every XRP transaction as a commodity transaction. However, it positions XRP alongside Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana in discussions among regulators and exchanges about the digital assets suitable for listed investment products.

XRP’s inclusion with BTC, ETH, and SOL in Federal Register filings highlights its recognition in regulated financial markets for listed digital asset products.

This development fits into XRP’s broader expansion within traditional finance. Institutional adoption has increased with the launch of CME Group’s futures and options contracts for XRP, and the proliferation of ETF products tied to the token.

CME’s XRP derivatives have seen substantial engagement, with notional volume reaching $13 billion in the first quarter of 2026 and total XRP futures trading eventually surpassing $62 billion.

Market observers have also noted the growth of CME’s 24/7 derivatives trading and increasing institutional participation in regulated XRP products.
