The world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange has identified a significant concentration of leveraged long positions on XRP derivatives markets, raising concerns among traders. Nearly 97% of all new long exposure in XRP recently formed around the $1.40 mark. After falling below this price, the majority of these multi-billion dollar positions are facing losses.
Heavy Long Positions Face Liquidation Risk
Traders now face a key decision: whether to increase their margin to support existing positions or accept losses through stop-loss mechanisms. While the exact liquidation levels may differ by position, technical analysis points to an important support level at $1.29, should the token fail to hold $1.31.
Currently, XRP is trading above the $1.35 resistance level. Conditions in the derivatives markets have improved compared to the previous day, but significant liquidations have already occurred. Bulls have absorbed $11.88 million in losses from over-leveraged position liquidations. According to Coinglass data, total liquidations reached $3.33 million on Friday, bringing some traders closer to breaking even.
The open interest (OI) weighted funding rate has turned positive again, which means that traders with short positions are paying funding fees to long position holders.
Key Resistance and Support Zones
Despite the recent rebound, the overall trend remains under pressure. Market participants are closely watching two price levels that could prompt a break from this week’s downtrend. Technical tools, including the red-labeled Bollinger Band at $1.39, serve as the first major obstacle ahead of the next resistance at the $1.49 SuperTrend level, as seen in four-hour chart data from TradingView.
XRP has been consolidating support between $1.39 and $1.55, with the daily time frame showing higher lows since August. However, the current price remains four cents below the lower boundary of this range. The $1.49 level plays a crucial role for bullish traders, closely aligning with the SuperTrend indicator.
If momentum drives XRP back into this demand area, the next significant resistance stands at roughly $1.65 to $1.66. A successful move through this price band could open the path to a target near $2, especially if broader geopolitical factors get absorbed by the market.
Nearly 97% of recent new long XRP exposures are concentrated around $1.40, and after the price dipped below this level, these positions now face significant unrealized losses. Bulls absorbed $11.88 million in liquidations, with technical analysis suggesting traders should watch support at $1.29 if $1.31 fails to hold.
Changing Trading Tools for Volatile Markets
Rapid price swings in assets like XRP have spotlighted the importance of real-time market information and streamlined analytics. In a market where a single Fed decision or a sudden altcoin listing can change everything in seconds, switching between multiple platforms for charts, news, and portfolio management can put investors at a disadvantage. Many traders now turn to privacy-focused solutions such as CryptoAppsy, offering consolidated access to real-time charts, smart price alerts, coin-specific news, and essential macro data—all on one interface, without requiring account creation.
