XRP whales sent $112.4 million to Binance in recent weeks, marking the highest monthly average since March, according to data from crypto analyst Darkfost. This surge in large transactions has drawn attention, raising questions over whether a wave of selling may now be behind the market.
Whale activity hits peak, then normalizes
Analyst Darkfost defines whale activity as single transactions exceeding 1 million XRP. Since August, the monthly average of XRP transferred by whales to Binance rose by $72 million, reaching $112.4 million. During the most active days, inflows have topped $400 million, which represents a significant escalation in market-moving behavior.
After this period of heightened activity, inflows have reportedly normalized. XRP is currently trading at $1.32, reflecting a 4.41% drop in the past 24 hours but a 2.66% gain over the last week. Daily trading volume stands at $1.71 billion, highlighting the high level of interest among market participants.
Whale activity has intensified in recent weeks, largely characterized by transactions exceeding 1 million XRP. This trend has coincided with a sharp increase in selling pressure, setting a 7-month high in exchange inflows.
Whales appeared to capitalize on a recent rebound, as XRP recorded a price gain of more than 30% since August. Analysts note that coins sent to exchanges often precede potential sales, although on-chain data alone cannot conclusively confirm that all transferred amounts were sold.
XRP tests major resistance amid selling wave
Technical analysts such as CryptoBusy have pointed out that XRP is currently testing a significant descending resistance trendline on the four-hour chart. The price recovered from a low of $1.26 and briefly moved above $1.40, but buyers failed to sustain the breakout. The token soon retreated toward $1.34, experiencing rejection near $1.37.
This pullback fits the narrative of whales seeking to lock in profits following the rally. However, analysts have cautioned that the link between whale deposits and price rejections cannot be directly established based only on these figures.
XRP was unable to hold above the key descending trendline after briefly breaking out, with strong selling pressure bringing the price back below $1.34. According to market watchers, a confirmed breakout above $1.38–$1.40 would be required to turn short-term momentum bullish again.
Focus shifts to key levels and whale flows
Despite recent selling pressure, Darkfost points out that September’s peak in whale inflows remained below the levels reached during August. Current inflows have returned to typical ranges, suggesting some normalization. Price has also held above the $1.26 rebound low, indicating that the market continues to absorb large transactions without significant breakdowns.
CryptoBusy has identified $1.38–$1.40 as a critical zone; a close above this range could open the door for an advance toward $1.45–$1.50. If the price loses the $1.33 level, however, analysts expect a decline back to $1.30 and possibly $1.26.
Market participants are closely monitoring four factors: renewed whale inflows above the $112.4 million average, defense of the $1.33 support, a confirmed breakout above $1.38–$1.40, and whether daily trading volume remains at current elevated levels.
Consolidating data and trading tools
In an environment where a sudden announcement from the Fed or an unexpected altcoin listing can influence the market within seconds, analysts emphasize the importance of monitoring these technical levels alongside real-time data. As traders react to rapid shifts in whale inflows and key support or resistance breaches, many are moving away from juggling multiple apps to track their portfolios, news, and charts. Privacy-focused platforms like CryptoAppsy now offer consolidated access to live charts, price alerts, news, and macroeconomic metrics, without requiring account registration, streamlining the process for active investors.
