Zcash (ZEC) rebounded to approximately $1,140 on Monday after suffering a nearly 6% decline over the past week. Despite the recent price retreat, the token’s trading volume remained robust at $1.4 billion, accounting for more than 7% of its circulating market capitalization. This elevated activity signals strong engagement from traders, even as ZEC struggled to sustain its upward momentum.

Macroeconomic uncertainty challenges Zcash rally

Zcash faced significant selling pressure around $1,300, hindered by ongoing concerns about the US economic outlook. The release of a steady inflation report on Friday briefly fueled a rally in digital assets, including ZEC. However, gains faded quickly as market participants began to anticipate a possible interest-rate hike at the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting, with expectations rising to nearly 90%.

The Federal Open Market Committee is scheduled to hold its next policy meeting on September 16. Many investors will closely follow remarks from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh, seeking signs of how policymakers might tackle persistent inflation, which remains well above the Federal Reserve’s 2% goal.

As inflation remains elevated, there are concerns that ongoing price pressures could prove challenging to control. The White House has advocated for lower interest rates in recent statements, though some analysts caution that easing monetary policy may deepen inflation risks in the near term.

This backdrop of uncertainty is prompting many cryptocurrency traders to limit risk exposure ahead of the pivotal Fed announcement.

Despite recent challenges, ZEC has outperformed much of the crypto market so far in 2026, rising about 116% year to date. Analysts note that demand for Zcash continues to be boosted by its focus on privacy technology and a specific use case for confidential transactions.

Market participants noted that Zcash’s network maintained strong user confidence after migrating millions of tokens from the previous Orchard vault to Ironwood, a newly introduced security solution.

However, Zcash recently underwent a credibility test after an audit revealed a vulnerability that could have been exploited to mint an unlimited supply of ZEC tokens. In response, the Zcash community implemented Ironwood, a new vault system aimed at strengthening the network’s underlying protocols.

Mini dictionary: Ironwood, a secure vault system designed by the Zcash community to protect token supply and enhance the protocol’s security following the exposure of a potential minting vulnerability.

User faith in the privacy-focused blockchain appears to remain steady. According to ZecHub, shielded transactions now account for 56% of all network activity, reaching the highest levels in nearly two years. This trend highlights the continued appeal of Zcash’s private transaction features for users concerned about confidentiality.

Bullish rally under threat as technical signals weaken

Technical analysis indicates that ZEC’s recent rally may be faltering. A bearish divergence has emerged on the daily Relative Strength Index (RSI), with the price reaching higher levels while the RSI forms a lower high. This pattern typically signals diminishing bullish momentum and can indicate an impending price correction.

Such divergences often develop in the late stages of a market upswing and may precede notable pullbacks. With liquidity thinning at current price levels and macroeconomic uncertainty rising, Zcash could fall to the $850 region before finding support.

Some traders are expected to lock in profits or buy protective options ahead of the Federal Reserve’s meeting, contributing to short-term selling pressure. However, the broader uptrend in ZEC may persist if the $850 zone attracts buyers.

Previously, Zcash broke out of an ascending triangle pattern, setting a long-term technical target close to $2,500. Analysts see a temporary dip to $850 as a potential reset within the larger uptrend, rather than a definitive shift toward a sustained bearish outlook.

Zcash’s next directional move will likely depend on developments from the Federal Reserve meeting and the broader reaction of the digital asset market. If support holds near $850 and macroeconomic conditions stabilize, ZEC may resume its climb toward the $2,500 technical objective.
