Zcash steadied near $1,400 on Wednesday, following a sharp decline from its recent peak of $1,698. The privacy-oriented cryptocurrency hovered around $1,412 after posting three consecutive sessions of losses totaling approximately 15%.
Outflows from Grayscale’s ZCSH fund signal shifting sentiment
Grayscale, a leading digital asset manager, experienced net outflows of $8.12 million from its Zcash fund (ZCSH) on Monday, according to SoSoValue data. The following day brought no new inflows, marking the fund’s first significant withdrawal after a strong launch period.
In its first month, ZCSH had accumulated over $250 million in net flows and attracted $21.83 million in August alone. The recent $8.12 million outflow remains minor relative to the fund’s total assets, but the pullback marks a shift in sentiment that traders are monitoring.
ZCSH’s large initial inflows demonstrated strong early appetite for Zcash exposure, but the latest withdrawals could signal a change in investor positioning and appetite.
The shift in fund flows comes just before a 3-for-1 forward share split in ZCSH, which took effect Wednesday. This adjustment increased the number of shares while lowering the price per share, but did not alter the overall value of investors’ holdings.
The impact of these outflows remains to be seen, as two days of weak demand do not confirm a longer-term trend. Further updates on fund flows may give more clarity about whether the pullback signals a temporary adjustment or a more persistent reduction in interest.
| Period | Net Inflow (USD) |
|---|---|
| First month | $250 million+ |
| August | $21.83 million |
| Monday | -$8.12 million |
| Tuesday | $0 |

Technical picture: Sellers remain in control after pullback
Zcash’s short-term outlook remains under pressure according to recent technical signals. On the four-hour chart, ZEC continued to trade below the 100-period exponential moving average (EMA) at $1,425, as well as the 50-period EMA near $1,494. Both moving averages now act as resistance levels limiting upward momentum.
The 200-period EMA, positioned around $1,254, sits below the market and serves as a broader structural support. Momentum indicators also suggest caution, with the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) signaling continued downside bias, and the Relative Strength Index (RSI) hovering near 41 — a level indicating subdued buying interest with further room for potential decline.
Immediate support appears near $1,300, close to the September 9 swing low of $1,296. A drop from $1,412 to $1,296 would imply an 8% decline. Should Zcash breach this area, the next technical floor would be the 200-period EMA at $1,254, another 11% below current levels.
On the upside, ZEC bulls would need to push the price above $1,425 initially, followed by a break above $1,494 to improve short-term prospects. A close above those levels could shift the focus to the recent high near $1,679, last reached on September 23.
For now, persistent outflows from ZCSH and downward technical momentum continue to pressure Zcash, with the $1,300 zone and upcoming fund flow readings likely to shape the next significant move.
