Important developments continue to occur in the cryptocurrency market. ProShares, a major exchange-traded fund (ETF) issuer, has officially announced the launch of an Ethereum-linked ETF product. Recently, market participants have focused on Bitcoin ETF applications, while developments in Ethereum also continue. However, the Ethereum ETF products released so far have not yet received the expected attention and have not had any impact on the Ethereum price.
Increasing Number of Ethereum ETF Products
According to company officials, ProShares’ new Ethereum-focused ETF product started trading on November 2nd under the symbol SETH on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Arca. The new crypto-focused ETF product was developed based on the volatility of the Ethereum price. Accordingly, investors will be offered an opportunity to profit based on volatility.
In addition, it is planned for SETH, similar to other crypto-focused ProShares ETF products, to serve investors through Ethereum futures contracts. According to ProShares CEO Michael Sapir, SETH aims to pursue a short-term profit policy compared to Ethereum, which can be laborious and expensive. Sapir explained this issue with the following words:
“With today’s launch of SETH, ProShares now offers investors opportunities to profit on both up and down days for Ethereum, all with the convenience of a traditional brokerage account.”
ProShares’ Crypto-focused ETF Products
SETH will be included in ProShares’ other ETF series linked to cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. ProShares had previously launched the Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITO), one of the first Bitcoin-focused ETF products offered to investors in the United States, in October 2021.
Following such a significant step, the company launched the Short Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITI) during a period when Bitcoin fell below $20,000 in June 2022. ProShares’ other crypto ETF products include ProShares Ethereum Strategy ETF (EETH), Bitcoin and Ethereum Market Cap Weight Strategy ETF (BETH), and Bitcoin & Ethereum Equal Weight Strategy ETF (BETE).
