New Kind of Network (NKN), is an open-source, peer-to-peer communication-focused blockchain network and project. This cryptocurrency and blockchain project, which focuses directly on internet connectivity, aims to enable people to share their network bandwidth and rights with others on a peer-to-peer basis. It can be said that this project has a large target audience, especially in countries and regions where internet connectivity is not widespread and still hard to access.
Launched in January 2018, the blockchain project was initiated by Stephen Wolfram and Whitfield Diffie, founders of Mathematica and Wolfram Alpha. Diffie is also one of the first inventors of public-key cryptography.
Although NKN was launched in 2018, it transitioned to its mainnet in July 2019. After transitioning, the blockchain network, with 25,000 full nodes, surpassed even the leading cryptocurrency Bitcoin and the second-largest cryptocurrency by total market value, Ethereum, in this aspect. With its 25,000 nodes, it could be said that NKN’s mainnet is even more complex and extensive than Ethereum’s network.
The functions that can be used in the NKN network are as follows:
- Content Delivery System (a system in collaboration with Chinese video giant IQIYI)
- Edge operating system (jointly developed with China Mobile)
- D-Chat (a secure and completely decentralized messaging application)
- nShell (a remotely controllable terminal access system)
Where to Buy NKN Coin?
To purchase NKN Coin, Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, can be used. NKN Coin, which can be bought and sold with two trading pairs on Binance, is seen to reach its highest trading volume in the NKN/USDT trading pair.
