While the rise in the cryptocurrency market brings joy to investors, the silence in the NFT market continues. One of the creators behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT collection, Greg Solano, has become the new CEO of Yuga Labs. Solano, one of the firm’s founders, will replace Daniel Alegre, who took over as CEO last April.
Eye-Catching Statements from Solano
Solano announced his return as CEO of Yuga Labs on February 21 via a post on social media platform X, sharing his excitement about this development with his followers.
Under Solano’s leadership, Yuga Labs aims to be more creative in enhancing the value of BAYC and to focus on establishing more partnerships. Solano emphasized that the value of BAYC comes from everyone in the club and highlighted past successes that expanded the BAYC brand, such as ApeFest and Made by Apes:
“We want to free up the BAYC team at Yuga as much as possible to realize their vision. More focus, more agility. This way we can achieve our goals and create space for the magic and madness we used to do more often.”
Solano announced the establishment of a new company, BAYC LLC, as a subsidiary of Yuga, which will be responsible for everything related to BAYC. Solano also mentioned that the company is focused on accelerating their upcoming metaverse project, Otherside:
“We have a lot of work to do. The only way to build this properly is for all of you to come and experience it more often.”
Significant Steps for Yuga Labs
This month, Yuga Labs plans to organize an Apes Come Home playtest event for Otherside, and Solano promises fans more communication about the game in the future.
Alegre, before officially joining Yuga Labs, served as the president and chief operating officer of gaming giant Activision Blizzard. In a February 21 post on X, Alegre thanked the Yuga Labs team for his time in office and stated that the company has a bright future. According to NFT Price Floor, BAYC floor prices rose by approximately 10% to $69,750, valued at 23.85 Ethereum, upon the news of Solano’s return to the CEO position.
Solano, co-founded Yuga Labs in February 2021 with Wylie Aronow, Zeshan Ali, and Kerem Atalay. Aronow is currently dealing with health issues and contributes to Yuga Labs in a small capacity.
